I tend to think what Schwantz meant to say was "He hasn't won any MotoGP championships in 7 years on a factory Honda"? Which is perfectly accurate. 8 years ago he was on a 250. He was 2 for 2 in the 250WC, only raced '04 and '05 and won them both!

And if it wasn't for Doohan nearly loosing his leg Rainey would have had one less championship. One could say that if Kevin hadn't crashed so much he would have taken another championship away from Rainey. Where does this line of "logic" end? I see a lot of "ifs, and buts" when this argument against Kevin is brought up. What happens is. A championship is won by the person who accumulates the most points by the end of the season, however that happens. In the top GP class Kevin has. Dani, has not. That's all the comparision that needs to happen because, ultimately, that's what a top level GP rider's job is. To win the championship. Dani is still racing so maybe he'll pull it off. I, like Kevin from what I'm reading, believe that he has the talent to do so. But it hasn't happened, and may never if something doesn't change for Dani.

It seems Schwantz is definitely playing the part of the stone throwing glass house owner! These championships go down to the single point (1/2 point in WSB last year!) and can be won and lost by a single pass or DNF. That said, Pedrosa has three titles to his credit and is not done yet. As we saw last year in the premier class he has gained consistancy with his speed and no longer winning one weekend and crashing (or no where to be seen) the next. In fact he has become more of an Eddie Lawson then a Kevin Schwantz! "Steady Dani"? :lol3

Wow, pretty classless and egotistical response from Puig, regardless of KS's actual, original point. Cap'n Pedro's one-liner, if that was indeed all that came out of the boy-wonder-that-will-never-be, was all the response that was needed.

Digging in more, while I assume Schwantz's statements were made in his typical low-tact approach, I will otherwise give him the benefit of the doubt that the story is getting spun until more comes in--i couldn't find anything on l'equipe (or a quick web search) to corroborate the supposition from the Spanish article (motogp.com) that KS was being a total out-of-line dickhole. I find the timing of this article a little too coincidental with 34's serving of the [Spanish] boss, and the re-quotes from the original french article (the one I couldn't find) to be a little too damning of schwantz to be reproduced completely in context.

Put another way, just because I'm wearing a tin hat doesn't mean there's not an orchestrated character assassination afoot.

Alternative conspiracy theory: the French are just fucking with the Spanish. :deal

superbikeplanet.com has decided to comment on Puig commenting on Schwantz commenting on Pedrosa. And they did not exactly manage to make themselves look very smart either, if you ask me! I didn't bother to check, but this moronic writeup was most likely again done by "staff".

I've only been reading superbikeplanet for about a year i'd guess, and in that year the quality has progressively gotten worse. The only reason I go there now is to see pictures.

Seems to me Schwantz has become a pundit, and a pundit is given a platform from which to make controversial calls: that's his place.

If the call stirs an impassioned response from one of those it alludes to, then the pundit has done his job, and done it very well. :evil

The pundit's own accomplishments are barely relevant. If Schwantz had opined that Rossi would never win another title until he dumped Jerry Burgess, a response along the lines of Burgess having helped Rossi to seven premier class titles, which was six more than Schwantz ever got, and it was time Schwantz acknowledged that, would show only that Jerry was feeling the pressure.

The funny thing about superbikeplanet is that as poorly as Dean Adams conveys news, at times, he has a very well informed pipeline to knowing what is going on.

I like Dean. I guess our sense of things lines up a bit.
I live on the SoupKasts. Those are fun.

    Doesn't matter.

Anyway, I heard a rumor there is a MotoGP race this weekend. True? Or just the tabloids blowing smoke?:lol3

This one should be the tie-breaker.

I hope that Pedrosa wins, just to keep everyone guessing. And Rossi second.

Odds makers would go apeshit trying to set things for Le Mans... :poser

If he, or anyone, is going to do it, it had better be in Spain. They would get drawn and quartered anywhere else. :eek1

With acknowledgement that HRC was hammpered with chatter in the early part of last year after the new tire was introduced which explains some of the difference in Pedrosa's results early season vs. end of season I think Pedrosa still rode a little conservatively in the 1st half of last year trying to avoid the injuries that constantly plague him. I think he's taking that same approach this year and we can expect him to turn it up a notch later in the year and dominate the 2nd half of the season once again.:freaky

    Or not.

Maybe while Dani is trying not to get hurt Mark will just keep riding around him.

Well Honda got the short end of the stick while all the other teams liked the tire and majority ruled on that one.. Honda worked hard to fix the bike so that it would work with that tire.
Wasn't Ducati just complaining that Bridgestone could fix their problem with their bike while Honda was adapting and winning.

Should be a great weekend, lets hopes it filled with lots of safe and close racing..:clap
