Wow, those videos take me back to the days when I first started watching this stuff, the bikes, the riders... the crashes. What a great era to remember. Amazing it was so long ago now.

Then again if you try hard enough, you can save a highside ...

(Thanks to Bootlace's Doohan clip for the inspiration. It's always astonished me how relaxed Doohan looks as he loses the front in what is a very high-speed turn - 120mph?)

Traction control is banned under EVO rules in the BSB, most of the bike are pushing 200+hp and there isn't a huge wave of riders binning it, high or low.
Its more bullshit that kills the sport. MSMA want it because they see it as the future.
Its probably more valuable to a commuter then a racer.

+1 I'm 3 1//2 weeks since a wet Supermoto high side broke my humerus (compound) and 4 ribs. Seems to hurt more as I get older, I feel for Rossi.

Ow ow ow ow. Heal well man.

The difference between an old racer and a young racer.

When the young racer gets into a corner too hot he says, "I can save it"
When the old racer gets into a corner too hot he says, "Monday's gonna suck"

Must be something about us SV riders going over the highside. LOL

I think most of these guys are aliens, the way they highside and get up and run right to the bike, not phased at all.

My injury was my first ever broken bone. :huh

In about 5 years of roadracing I fell 6 times. Five were lowsides. Every one of those, I got up pissed off that I'd crashed. One was a big highside at about 50-60 mph. I still have that video clip in my head of seeing the bike at what looked like about 5 feet below me, and I was almost upside down, my feet were certainly higher than my head. That didn't end so well at all, it involved doctors and broken bones. I do not ever want to highside a bike again! :lol3

That hurts just reading it! Hope you get better quick.

Aside from the pain the worst moment of the highside is when your in the air and you have time to think "This is probably REALLY going to hurt".

Not to hijack too much here.....but, I have no memory from time I put my hands out to over clipons, to when I was on the ground, trying to sit up and take my helmet off, wondering what the heck just happened. Corner worker came over right away and insisted I just lay back and relax till the ambulance came.:huh

I keep lusting after track bikes for sale, a modern 600, howling on the track, or an old TZ250, like I always wanted... but then I realize, I'd ride the damn thing less than I do the other bikes in the garage. :lol2 Guess I'm done with that, I just want to go riding now. :dunno
