I headed for the Yosemite NP on this sunny Saturday morning...I haven been up there since September when I crossed Sierras on hwy 120 on my way back from SouthWest trip...

The day looked to be promising...I seen many other riders in the green foothills this morning...restless after long winter month...

Couple hours later I was at the snow line...did not seen any riders up here...for the rest of my trip...

Despite the snow the day was nice and warm, roads all clean and dry...

    First stop- Hech-Hechy reservoir...

I always liked this place...maybe later in the summer I will come back and do some hiking around the area...

I continued heading up the hill for a while...it got coder, road had some black ice here and there, lose and wet gravelly...

Crane Flat gas station is operating...

    Thank's to the park services...

Spotted some chipped rock along the road...took a picture...

Then visited "The Tunnel View"...on hwy 41...

Old crow came to say hello...

Yosemite Falls as seen from the Valley Floor...

Spotted that old chipped rock again...

The sun was creeping closer to the horizon and the cold started to pinch my fingers and cheeks...so I headed back to the foothills...and then down to the valley floor...home...

Got home just before dark...what a nice day it was....

...I will be going to Pinnacles National Monument next weekend...do some camping and hiking...

Here is a link with more pictures from the Yosemite Ride...

Nice photos IronWolf! Yosemite is one of the most beautiful spots I have ever been.

Was this a typical snow year for California? I guess I thought there would be more on the mountains still. :dunno

    Well done.

Those big rocks draw attention, but the valley floor of Yosemite is gorgeous.

    Good bird pic.

was that this last Saturday, March 12?

I was thinking of heading up there on the 25th and wondering how things were warming up. I saw a video about Frazil ice from Yosemite Falls and thought I would try to see it if the flow is starting.

Any ideas what kind of temps you experienced?

This year we had more snow than in past couple of winters, but it is still just an average winter...This trip was couple weeks ago (March 5th) the coldest it got was probably around 40F...

Last weekend I went to Pinnacles National Monument, but about that trip later tonight...

Great pictures. It's been many years since we have been there. Just makes me want to return on a bike this time and not a cage.

What type of camera and lens did you use? I plan on taking a trip to Yosmite, this summer.

I love visiting Yosemite on a bike, the grandeur is that much more spectacular when you don't have walls of a car blocking things off. My favorite thing to do is to ride in from the south, through the trees and past the scenic views (I always stop to look) then down into the valley. You get to that center and everything opens up - you're in the midst of the majesty you'd only seen from afar and, omigod, it's magical.

I heart national parks. Despite the cost, they're the perfect weekend excursion. :thumb

I use my old and trusty NIKON D-70 with a AF-S 18-70mm lens, but also I carry AF 70-300mm lens....just in case...

Looks like rain/snow for the valley next week so I won't make it up there. Thanks for the pictures though. Always great to see that beautiful place.
