Just don't have a brain freeze and do it in the Clem 7 (lucky they rescinded the ticket cause I definitely was speeding).

You test ride it and you inmediately buy it...

    You are a dirt rider...

    You are unconventional...

You love beating BMW GS wherever you are...

You dont mind your wife calling it "the manthis"...

You smile when your wife tells "no, dont take that one, you always loose yor mind when riding it"...

    You know about bikes...

you don't care how long an oil change takes, how many miles you get out of a rear tire or what it cost. You don't even worry that much about your driver licence. You are an addict. You know there simply isn't any bike out there that does what this thing does. Love mine. Wouldn't trade it for any other machine out there. It's all about smiles per mile

When on a ride with a buddy, dropping down into a valley on a forest road you pin it in 5 and hit 100 mph. Pull over for him to catch up and he gets there and says what the hell happened back there it was like a bomb went off,and all you can do is LOL:lol3

When you haven't washed or cleaned your truck in 6 or 7 months, but your bike is ready for a cross continental trip...

Or if ya got in a money crunch you would rather sell the truck than the bike.

You drop a bolt and it falls inside the bike. I find the small 6mm bolts holding on the glovebox are especially happy to leap downwards and find a special place to stay warm on top of the motor. Triple clamp bolts like to play hide-and-seek also.

You know you're a truly special 950 owner when you do this and you have full fuel tanks so they swell and are a general pita to put back on.

You get special bonus points if you happen to have the original SW Motech crashbars installed

    :clap

And you think stuff it I will go and buy another bolt rather than trying to find it.

Like when an quick 20min steering damper install turns into a 2 hour mission with lots of adjectives.

When you have a lend of the local bike shop shim kit over night to do the valves on the 950. Then just as you take the first shim out of the bike .The dog jumps up on the work bench and knocks the TWO OPEN boxes on the floor :eek1 .

Over two hours later the hundreds of shims are cleaned and measured and all back in the right boxes. :clap

Now to start doing the valves.

When you buy your 950 before they're allowed into your state, sight unseen. Ride it, maintain it, farkle for more than six years and still get an out loud hoot when that tack rolls past 6500:lol3 :lol3 :lol3

    I love this thread!!

…. When it takes 30 minutes longer to change your riding gear into a full 3 piece suit with tie and fancy shoes somewhere behind a trashcan, because you decided that visiting customers on a 950 is much more fun then going by car.

You meet her at the dealers for a test ride with a nervous smile, anxious inside, you wheel her gently down the road. Not too fast though, the smile instant as you hear the burbling soundtrack coming from her high exhausts.

You hit the highway and the smile widens into a dumb grin which gets wider as the revs get higher. You feel like you've never felt about a motorcycle before, is it love?

You go home kicking your heels together thinking of nothing else, only to ride her again. You meet a second time, this time you make a commitment to her you're going to take her home and treat her right, lavish her with gifts and jewellery.

Bags, new rubber shoes for special occasions, bashplate, crashbars, headlight grill and carbon all to protect her. Automatic oiler to keep the drive chain smooth, HID lights so she can see better in the dark, Akros so she can speak louder, Satnav so she can find her way around better, heated grips to keep the cold at bay and finally a new facet pump to keep her alive.

You take her to exotic places in far away lands, you spend so much time together riding on foreign tarmac, you take pictures of you both together; in mountains, through rivers, along gravel roads, through thick mud. She carries you along, safe and sound loaded with all your belongings and she returns you home in good health.

You service her with care, change her filters, her oils, replace her worn brake pads and lavish her with soap and scrub her clean before polishing her to make her sparkle.

Somebody steals her from you, you hope, you pray, you cry, you lose, you mourn. :cry

Then you go and buy another one without so much as sitting on her, it's not the same, but the affair will grow for sure and you begin the love affair all over again.
