Seems to me the v/wee storm owners feel the need to justify their choice of bike. Pretty sad. Ride what you like, I ride a tiger 1050 for now. Put 50k on it not needed to do anything but minimal maintenance. Oil, tires, brakes,chains...:D as far as going anywhere.... I took a scooter on a 8k trip of roads highways and yes dirt lol... fire roads and camped off it for a week and s half. 11days. Get what suits you, learn the bike and enjoy it.

I am Amercan. I am actually native. I don't appreciate you insulting and lumping "Americans" in one pile of racist hating turf. You are actually the same as the guy you just insulted, making the same assumptions and calling it out the same way. Next time you choose to not engage in the same stupid manner Don't. You both are in the wrong. So stay on the subject. You gave your opinion he gave his... go argue somewhere else.

It's funny how much people make fun of the VStroms. Now I'm now expert but I have owned a few bikes in the past. 2 08 BMW GSA's and an 09 BMW GSA. An 04 KTM 950 "S" Adventure. Also a 2011 KLR 650. Current ride is a 2007 DL 650. What I can say is that this DL has been as much fun as all my other bikes. No it's not the best road or dirt bike out there but it does everything good. My BMW GSA was my all time favorite bike on the Road. But super expensive for everything. I'm talking parts and maintenance. The KTM was my favorite big bike off road but hated it on the street. The KLR was just BLAH for me.. My VStrom is my keeper bike. It amazes me what it does for the cost. I have had more fun on my VStrom than any of my other bikes just for the fact that I know it's bulletproof. It just does everything... And it will be the bike I keep for along time..

I don't think they are ugly either.....

Triumph Scrambler. Simple, air cooled, carbed, low stress motor. Nothing fancy.

Don't feed the Troll, don't quote the Troll. He'll eventually get bored and go back under his rock.

I personally don't think anything FI would be a good "go anywhere" bike. Anything that can do reasonably well 2-up will not be good off-road, it just won't. Sort of like "cheap, fast and reliable..."
