I want one! Lucky me the wife rides trials too, just have to figure out where to put one first.
Our big tire is at the bottom of a little basin, so you have to lift your front wheel while descending, and then hold pressure enough to not get stuck in the hole.
We have several tires, and they're not my favorite obstacles. When you skidplate, it sticks, rather than clanking or sliding as if on rocks or logs. Also they absorb your front suspension and dampen the rebound.
Which is not to say that altering your bike's response doesn't teach you something...
I was feeling pretty good after a day at the salt mine so I hit up Camp Gordy for a bit this evening. I didn't too much of the bigger stuff though........
........since I was on the KTM 300.
There's a truck tire place near me that will (I think) be happy to give me old equipment tires. I've avoided them because once I have it home, it'll cost me $$ to get rid of it. I try to stick to stuff that can go into the bonfire when it is no longer useful.
I'd love to get my hands on some big rocks though. They can easily double as landscaping...
We use tires like that for fat wood down here in the sticks.
Just picked up a skidder tire that looks just like that one yesterday. Measured 38" tall on it's side. Gonna be fun!
Considering that you just stole my local riding buddy, I may have to come and check it out...
That's just hear say. I have yet to meet or see any rider that came down this way from your parts.
Maybe that'll get GER out to A53.
You're welcome at A53 anytime.
Ouch... but a true statement.
Got my head above water wrt the new house and job now... so let me know when you need help working on sections and I'll bring the Monty out.
Go to the Trials Training Center website and look at the training videos.
Come on out anytime. Plenty for ya to help with. The skidder tire and drums I picked up yesterday, along with this rock pile are going to make a nice start on a new section...
My JRT "Bean" executed a perfect Jap Zap onto the tire...amazing! :eek1
That looks like one awkward sized tire. That will be interesting!
Looks like you have been pretty busy. Will try to get out there soon.
I may have to watch your dog do a few of those jap zaps before I try to do anything on a 38 inch tire.
No worries Brother! We'll be working/riding this weekend for sure.
Finishing the center hole platform for the tire tonight.
Got to get the backhoe out to bury the drums.
Sounds like you have some serious construction going on out there! :eek1 Save some work for me, I should be up this weekend.
That picture doesn't do the tire justice... Ginormous in real life. I will have to practice to get to Bean's level.
Glad you could make it out today GER. As you saw, my backyard is a virtual Trials playground.
Come on back out anytime.
That's no beginner log
Needs less bark, more water, and set at an angle. If Jake can hop it.....too much traction. Nice addition Gordy!!
when can we see how it rides
