    This is one of the best preserved Civil War Forts in the area;

    The park ranger on duty told me that they are going to have to put a giant strap around the fort to keep the walls from collapsing in from the constant wave action subsiding the foundation . You can see in the first pic that the walls are starting to break loose.

    I'll try to go back and get some better pics, I didn't realize the lighting was so off.

    You can see the start of an old coastal battery wall. Sadly the NPS in its (lack of) wisdom closed the road that took you directly to the battery and a very scenic vista overlooking SF and the Pacific.
