Just a Haunted Castle.
I don't think I've been to the haunted castle. I've been to Bishop's Castle, and I've met Jim Bishop (an "interesting" character), but of course that's over the hill from us...
+1 CB = Cool. And a little weird.
Is the hippy dip still the same ( Valley View) with guys in dress shirts and no pants frying bacon by the pool?
Yeah, it's still there. Don't know about guys in dress shirts and no pants. I've never gone there. Just not comfortable with the whole public nudity thing. :huh
I hiked into Marble in the winter. I hear the full mine tour is pretty cool if they still have it. There is Mesa Verde and I hear a lot more sites in the country around there. All the hot springs...
The Great Sand Dunes are cool.
Not really weird, but Buffalo Bill's grave & museum is a cool & interesting place to visit in Golden, on top of Lookout Mountain...fun swervy road to ride, too.
The weirdest place in the SLV is the alligator farm.
That gets my top vote.
I visited Crestone once....got a Bermuda Triangle kinda vibe and it was real quiet and strange. Along comes a diapered 2 year old, nothing else on, walking down the main street. No sign where it came from or where it was going. Must have been being eaten alive by skeeters too. For some reason it creeped us out and we called the Sheriff and got out of there.
Ever check out the Rand Police Department?
Colorado is so full of colorful characters and festivals.
+1 on Mike the Headless Chicken, Frozen Dead Guy, Gator Farm, and UFO Watch Tower.
The burro race during Leadville's "Boom Days" celebration in August is sort of quirky...
Thanks folks - a handful of places mentioned I haven't been to yet.
Not to mention they have a great lunch there (and dinner).
It's prolly been linked but if not: http://www.weirdcolorado.net
My wife bought the book a few years ago. It's full of weird shite!
nice. we spent the night there 3 weeks ago.
walked all around the upper floors late at night checking things out.
top floor is where they kept the kids.
meet a women sitting up there with a lolipop in her hand hoping a ghost child would be interested in it.
I don't think anyone's said it which is surprising...
RED ROCKS!!! Is there any other place like it on Earth?
Best to go during a good show, though. And the parking lot is whole 'nother scene :stoned
