Wife and I bought some mountain bikes back in July because we didn't get a vacation this year with kids, work,...etc. Man are we hooked now....:clap . She is loving it too and really does great on the trails we ride around St. Louis / St. Charles, MO....and do we have some good ones. We've even bought some helmet mounted LED lights and did our first night trail ride a few weeks ago....that is even more fun then running the trails during the day. :evil So now let's see your bikes on some good single track. I need to work on taking more pictures. I think why I like mountain biking so much is that it allows me to ride trails that I only can dream about riding on my motorcycle...:thumb

Here's a few from our neck of the woods....

This is a few from Klondike Park - Intermediate to advanced in some areas...

Start of a fast downhill sweeper section

    Steeper then it looks Switchback

10' feet from my bike is a long way down - overlooking the Missouri River Valley from a top a bluff
    [IMG]

Chubb Trail - riding rocky rooty trails with good elevation changes

Nice downhill with plenty of rock step-offs
    [IMG]

    Up through the rocks

Little bull dogging going on - but she is a trooper....I just bulldogged this myself :lol3
    [IMG]

Both of us catching our breath after climbing a rocky rooty section of the trail....

    Let's see them photos.......

    Nice action shots....

I just looked up the Sleepless in the Saddle 24 ....found this site

    http://www.provelosupportuk.co.uk/sleepless_inthe_saddle.html

I see a picture from 2008 where a guy did it on a unicycle.....that would be a tough one....

Yes, you get quite a few. Here's one from a different 24 hour event (Mountain Mayhem)...

@ThumperDRZ get brownie points and buy yer wife some mtn biking specific shorts for Crimmus. They're baggie, so no worries about running around in the woods in lycra. For some reason wimmens are sensititve about that. :dunno

Welcome to the adventure. :nod I was there in 1987. One of the things some crusty old bicyclist told me back then has stuck with me: don't push the bike, pick it up and carry it. If yer pushing it, its won. Something about that stuck, so when I hafta hike-a-bike it, I pick the bastage up and carry it. To. This. Day.

As a note: clips and straps really help keep yer feet on the pedals in less than smooth conditions. The increase in security you feel lets ya go further off-road.

    HTH

    M

edited to add: PM Pilot. He's in yer neck of the woods and lookin for people to mtn bike with. :augie

This looks like some great riding. We have some good rocky outcrops up this way too. I want to take my wife down that way towards Mena for some MTB riding next summer or Fall......:thumb

The terrain you posted looks pretty fun, too. I might have to make a trip up there at some point and check it out. Let me know if you're ever in the Tulsa area and I'd be happy to show you the good stuff.

Gotta be careful, though. This happened last summer up on Turkey Mountain :lol3

Ouch----you want to get up this way I'll be happy to show you around. You better wait until April because I am getting rotator cuff surgery tomorrow so I'll be in a similar position for a while....:lol3

It's not MTB or MC related but I think I'll be down and out for a few months.....

O.K., it's not a mountain bike, but I tend to treat it as such. I can ride directly to a lot of the local trails right from the house (extra cyclist smugness points for not having to drive!:D). This is Middle Creek Trail here in Redding, CA.
