Southwade, sorry to read about your bike being stolen. You think you'll get another Z ?
I contemplated getting the Streetfighter or the Speed Triple this time, but no, I'll be getting another Z1000. It's just perfect (for me).
Great balance, fun, comfortable, and cheaper.
Well that's good you'll be getting another. So, we will be getting more good pics from you ?
lol, I'm sure.
Here's a couple of my former '04
I miss her pretty bad. I sold her to quiet my wife down when I brought home a Buell without "permission" (don't ask, yeah I'm prolly wipped but I do own 4 bikes and 3 boats so mebe not fully).
I put the Z and my ZRX up for sale at the same time but the Z sold first. They're both fairly similar but the Z is much more refined. I had an Ohlins shock and progressive spings on the Z and WOW.
Nice bikes guys keep the pics coming
Southwade just seen you lost your bike.
Hope things get resolved in your favor.
Just like you said...
Great balance, fun, comfortable, and cheaper.
The wow factor = power to weight ratio.
Thanks. That shield blows my mind every time I see it.
I bet it's awesome in this weather though.
I know it doesn't look as good as the original but
I really need it with these kinda temps. I will put on the original shield in the summer.
Where do you live, looks like up north somewhere. Great Lakes area?
The new Z's look fantastic. I have not been able to ride one yet but everything I've heard makes it sound like it's 200 times better than my 6 year old Z. I think when a blue one comes out I will be sold.
Southwade, you crack me up with that cat picture. lol by myself.
The intake sound on these bikes is freaking phenomenal.
They even share it with us Ninja 1000 owners.
So I've read... but have not been able to sample. The new Z just sounds so awesome on paper. I do want right now but I do not want payments right now. :\ Sticking with the old Z. I think I would like it better with 4-1 exhaust carbon Akrapovic, black wheels, and a blue chin spoiler, maybe 636 forks and brakes.
Near the Twin Cities but in Wisconsin where the roads wind along the MIssissippi.
Still have my Zed
It's been a little over 5 years now. When I started this thread November 18, 2007 little did I know just how much fun I would have with this bike. Its been a trustworthy friend and together we have shared 48,000 km (~30, mi) through New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Quebec, Ontario, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. She was almost new (2700 mi) when I brought her home.
Here it is getting the final check-over from the dealer before I bought it.
I was very happy with my new bike
I planned to do a few trips on this bike and did a bit of research into what was available for racks and discovered that there wasn't much. I did find this set-up from Hepco-becker in Germany but it was expensive:
So I decided to make my own rack.
It worked great for fetching packages from across the border:
I mounted up one of my Pelican boxes as a trunk and used my bike to commute to work a few times:
I went to Newfoundland a couple times on this boat:
Here she is in the belly of the boat, all strapped down for the crossing:
Newfoundland was really awesome but I did pick up a roofing nail in my rear tire. That was my first experience with putting tire plugs in a motorcycle tire:
How I rolled on that trip:
Seems all my pictures are of the left side of the bike:
Here she is with my other bikes:
I don't know for sure but it looks like my Zed has more of a lean on its kickstand than it used to:
I eventually got a rear seat cowl, which looks good even though its black. And I also got a Corbin seat, which is awesome:
So after 5 years I still love it. I got used to the vibrations and the stock suspension years ago and don't ever notice what others percieve as things that bother them. Its a wonderfully visceral experience riding this bike and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
The insurance company just called me, said I should have a check within the next 10 days.
Well... since it's been over a week since your bike ran away, I'd say this is the best news you can hope for. Now comes the decision: Did you really like the orange and black or will you go green and black? Or perhaps the black on black or white on black? Maybe you can find a previously loved Z with some goodies and save a little money.
Sorry to hear about the theft southwade. Keep us posted on what you end up with.
A few picks of one of my old Zs. Great bike.
Found these on another forum.
