Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has just announced that its 2019 KTM 450 Rally Replica bike is available to the public. For about $30,500 plus tax, you can get a bike nearly identical to those ridden by KTM factory rally riders.
The Austrian firm has developed an almost totally new machine built specifically for Dakar Rally success. The chassis is a brand new design. With input from factory riders, KTM claims the new chassis enhances braking stability and retains straight-line stability.
The 2019 KTM 450 Rally Replica’s 450cc SOHC fuel injected engine has increased power as a result of a newly designed cylinder head. It features a new engine management system and throttle body.
KTM made mass centralization a key development strategy. As a result, the bike now fitted with a new air filter box that provides more room for the battery and enhanced electronics.
Revisions have been made to the swingarm, linkage, and shock. The bike now utilizes a WP XACT PRO 48mm closed cartridge suspension and Cone Valve technology. This increases traction under acceleration as well as bottoming reserves.
A new softer seat, revised fuel tanks, and Akrapovič exhaust contribute to mass centralization. This continues the design goal of an agile, lightweight, comfortable and stable bike.
When asked about the new bike, KTM Factory Rally Team Leader Stephan Huber said:
The all-new KTM 450 Rally Replica is based on our already-successful new factory machine that we began racing at the end of last year. With the latest generation, our goal and focus was to develop a bike around the style of our current factory riders, who required something with more comfort, more agility and improved stability. We looked for an improvement in handling, a lower weight, as well as a bike that also meets the demands of the conditions and intensity that we now find at Dakar.
A Dakar service and support package is also available for additional cost. Just what you need if you want to do the Dakar yourself.
If you’d like to purchase one of the 75 limited production KTM 450 Rally Replica bikes, you are too late. All 75 of the limited production units are already reserved. You will have to contact KTM for next year’s bike.
