BMW is coming to Sturgis and they are bringing new ideas with them. Case in point, BMW Motorrad’s Concept R18 will have its US unveiling. The R18 concept is what BMW calls its visionary entry into the large cruiser market. And, it is making its debut at the Sturgis’ Buffalo Chip®.
In addition, Revival Cycle’s “Birdcage” custom one-off “Birdcage” will make an appearance as well. The Birdcage features BMW’s new big boxer engine.
Custom Work Zon’s “Departed” an award-winning motorcycle commissioned by BMW Motorrad will also be in attendance. It will be featured in the Sturgis Buffalo Chip® 2019 Motorcycles As Art™ Exhibition, “What’s the Skinny; Motorcycling Without the Fat.”
The exhibition will be a one-time event and is curated by Michael Lichter. The display features various custom motorcycles created by more than 40 master builders. The inspiration for all of these bikes comes from the “skinny” aesthetic.
BMW representatives will be available to answer questions and assist with demo rides. The full lineup of BMW bikes will be available including the 160 hp K1600 B and Grand America, the iconic GS adventure bikes, and the pure and customizable R nineT Heritage models.
The demo rides will take place on August 3 – 10 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. BMW accessories will also be on display and available for purchase.
