Cold rain and wind meant I had to summon courage today, and some red bull.  What do you expect? It’s springtime in Siberia.  Time to get on the road.

I’m crossing the Ural Mountains today.  Similar to the Smokey Mountains in the Southeastern USA, definitely not the Rockies nor the Alps but enough elevation changes to be serious.

The rain let up after a few hours.  Smiles all around.

Perm is the industrial hub of the Ural Mountains and also is considered the dividing line between Siberia and “European Russia”.

Time spent in the square is good for the soul.  As with Ulaanbaatar this is where people come out to enjoy themselves and be with each other.
