UPDATE:5-2-11...Taking orders for all versions!!:clap...updated pics in post #22

    UPDATE: 4-12-11...PICTURES OF V1 ADDED

UPDATE: 4-04-11........VALENTINE V1 COVER COMPLETED!!!! STAY TUNED FOR PICTURES THIS EVENING. Taking orders at the end of the week

Hello everyone. I just recently applied for an LLC (JodaTech). I have been making different motorcycle aftermarket parts for awhile now..anything from aluminum risers to fiberglass wind deflectors and plexiglass windscreens. Recently I bought a 09 Buell Uly and it came with some extras. The one extra it cam with was a radar detector with a "radar box" to keep it out of the elements. Well....I wasnt a fan of the box...it was big and clunky and the detector moved around inside quite a bit, and the audio cord needed to be ziptied in place to prevent it from coming out. Not to mention it had velcro everywhere to keep it in place. I looked around for a long time for an alternate solution to the "radar box", but couldnt find anything. So.....I made one myself:clap. At the moment I have the design and prototype made for an Escort 8500/X50. It is form fitted and made from .093" Duraplex with the base made from .220" Lexan, so there is no chance of it moving around or rattling inside the cover. I will be making a cover for the Valentine 1 as well in the very near future. The cases will have a bottom plate that can be drilled to attach to any type of RAM system, or I can drill to your specs if needed. The cases will be offered in 2 styles.....A clear version, and a "Stealth" version with a black rubberized coating. I may also offer a plain matte black version (non rubberized). The first unit is going out to a fellow ADV'er for testing and design tweeking if needed.

I am posting this to gage interest and see if you guys feel there is a need/want for an alternate to the current option available. Also if your interested.....you can pre-order your unit here, so I know how many I might need to make.

Depending on the final design, the cost will be somewhere between $40 and $50, and at this price it is cheaper than the "radar box".

Here are a few pictures of what the cover will look like...Keep in mind this is the first working prototype I've made and the pics were taken with my cell phone and I didnt clean up the cover before I took these pics. I will perfect the design with feedback from my "tester" and the covers will then be released to everyone.

I'm one guy....with an idea...trying to start a small business from home

Stealth Rubberized Version: (disregard crackle finish....final will look smooth....I messed up the coating on this unit:puke1)

    PRICES:
    Escort Stealth w/90* adapter.... $50
    Escort Stealth wo/ 90* adapter..$45
    Escort Clear w/ 90* adapter......$46
    Escort Clear wo/90* adapter.....$41
    Valentine Stealth.......................$50
    Valentine Clear..........................$45

    All Covers include Thumb Screws
I currently have 5 of each design made at the moment, more will be made this week if demand requires it.
PM me for payment options/PayPal address.

I can also make weatherproof covers for just about any electronical gadget......ipod...phone..etc. Touch screen electrics are possible, but you probably wont be able to use the touch feature, since the plastic is pretty thick.

I would be interested, I have my BEL RX65 in my Escort 8500 case from legal speeding and it is so old it is getting brittle.

I will keep an eye out for your finished product.

I'd be interested in one for my Escort.
My power wire comes straight out........not at 90 degrees like in the photo.
I use the ear phone jack also, so that needs to be addressed.
The stealth version would be my choice.

    Good luck with this.

    Cheers

Got a few PM's regarding the power and audio cords. The units will come with or without a 90 degree audio cord adapter, $5 will be added for the adapter or you can aquire one yourself. The power cord is not attached in the pictures above(it was just mounted to RAM to show the unit), but it does fit into the unit under the cover. I have since modified the case to allow ample room for the power cable to go into the detector and allow for the cable to turn/bend 90 degrees and exit through the bottom. I am hoping to get the final version done this week and take orders by next week. (Escort 8500/X50 version). The Valentine V1 version will follow shortly thereafter, and the Escort 9500i/ix version will be made if there is enough interest in it.

Sorry, not sure what you mean? The difference between the Escort and Valentine version? The covers are form fitted to the specific radar detector.

Gotcha....There are basically only 2 differences. The Stealth model has a black rubberized coating on it (prevents scratching, and makes the detector a little less obvious since you cannot actually see the detector under it). I can basically make the cover any color upon request though, I just like the rubberized coating myself because it protects the cover a bit in case of dropping it. All the detection parts and visual parts are clear, so you can see the warnings and the radar can detect signals. Hope this helps.

Ok. I got some feedback regarding the V1 version. But I wanted to ask a few more people in the thread. Do you use the audio jack on the right side of the unit? Or do you use a seperate audio controller? I'm asking this because I need to know if the cover needs to have a "bump out" for the audio jack. So far most people are teling me they do not use the audio out jack. Input from other users would be great.
    Thanks,
    Johnny

Escort 8500/X50 Final Version complete!! See first post for updated pictures and price. All covers come with mounting plate that can be drilled for your specific mounting preference, thumb screws to securely hold cover to mounting plate. No velcro needed to hold the detector in place...the cover is form fitted so it will not move inside the cover.
