My 08 pump just started crapping out (low fuel level and hot temps) and I have a new one on order that should arrive by friday. I can yank the old one tonight and get it mailed tomorrow, can't guarantee it will get there by friday though. PM me with what you think it is worth.

OK....Safari tank is on :D. Thank you to those who offered some suggestions. I also would like to thank the Aqualine Safari Tank crew for working with the service tech here to conclude the issue. It turned out to be confusing details in instruction and photos. With that said, many of you seemed to manage under the same conditions when installed. So S@@T happens. Just glad she's on, airbox is modded, radiator guard is secured etc.... She's almost too pretty but as a commuter she be just fine. I do see a need for possible second set of wheels for more dirt oriented tires. Very happy with the overall package though. Will take pics later. Thanks again. :freaky

Mine was -5, the two others I did this to were -3. Mine wound up being happiest at +1, other two were zero and +2.

    Which chain from them?

I love the rear 48 I just got from them, coupled with the 13...it's a good mix for me, thinking 112 links (I'm running 110 right now, and it's all the way to the front)...but which chain? and just any master link?

    I'm dumb here.

Used a 112 link Primary Drive 520 X-ring chain from Rocky Mountain (many other retailers carry them). I got the X-ring rather than the O-ring. The X-ring had a bit higher tensile strength rating and, they say, a bit better sealing ring than the O-ring. In the drop down menu, you select the number of links. Once you add that to your cart, you can order a master link from the same drop down menu.

By the way, 112 link chain (with the 13/48T) even fit the Pirelli MT43 tire, but it was close. A 110 link would be OK with a stock tire height, but might be tight or not possible with a D606 or MT43.

I picked up a barely used '09 WR-X recently with a Two Bros pipe & can and programmer. The emissions stuff is gone, the airbox door is open, and a NoToil filter was installed. I run av-gas, so my fueling tends to be weird anyway. As the weather heats up (95-100F), I've been chasing a stalling issue at idle, particularly when just cracking the throttle open, such as when leaving a red light in traffic:huh.

I discovered the post below in this Mega Thread, and decided to play with the CO mixture setting. The stall is gone after richening the mixture, and the bike RIPS!!, but my '09 seems to have a little different setup than what is described below. I have a wider range of adjustment than the +-30 described below, and have run mine all the way to 50(in increments of 5) before performance started to suffer! I ended up leaving it at +40 for the day, and will try again tomorrow with a cold start to be sure I haven't created any new issues, then I will tweak the 2 Bros programmer.

Does anyone have any additional information about the '09 CO menu that may shed some light? I did search, but didn't find anything useful besides the post below.

Does the jumper wire have to remain in place, or can it be removed once the change is made?

It can be removed. I removed the jumper after adjusting, and when I went in to readjust the settings remained at the changed level.

Now does anyone know if this effects the fueling at all throttle postions or just idle? I have heard conflicting statements on this.

    Thanks pal, mucho

Updating the data thread too...I know a lot don't need it but I swear, I can't remember this stuff, when it's time to buy, every time is the first time.

Can someone please tell me which radiator guard works with the new IMS 4.75 tank. I ordered a flatland guard, but it doesn't work. Sorry if this has already been answered, but I searched for sometime without finding an answer.

If I remember correctly, Shewolf has her sag set at the minimum and has very little slider wear.

I have the flatland & it works.. with just a simple mod. I bent the edge so no contact is made with the tank. No worries about vibrating a hole in the tank.

+1 on Force as mordicai answered.

I have the Force radiator guard, high quality... installs easy.. fits well with 4.75 tank... as a mechanical engineer I will recommend them :D (also received in a timely manner from overseas).

No reason to remove it. I played with the co settings for a bit when i got the bike, but not since. The ground wire is still in place. It is for the o2 sensor, iirc, but it won't hurt anything.

    Good news.
I was actually able to fix my fuel pump fitting.
I was going to try a threaded pipe fitting, but there wasn't enough to thread.
Instead I used some 8mm brake line.
First I took the connector out of the pump housing. Major PITA because of the line in the pump it connects to.
Then I drilled a pilot hole through the top of the pump fitting(I removed some material first).
I heated the brake line up and pushed it into the hole. The plastic melted nicely. once it cooled, I couldn't pull it out if I wanted to. I jb welded it to be sure.
On the other end, I rounded and smoothed the tip so it wouldn't chew up the soft orings in the fuel line, slipped a small oring over the line and put it where the ridge on the connector is. I JB welded that in place also.

The only problem I has was that the bend needed to be sharper, and the line pushed a little farther into the pump. I had to make an extra ugly bent after I put everything back together so the fuel line didn't hit the valve cover.

I should have took more pix, but I did get one crappy cell pic.

Idle and something like the first 10% throttle. Think Pilot screw.

    I left my wire connected.

What pressures you guys run in tires for dirt/gravel roads??

I tend to run my tires about 25 PSI for pavement, and usually 12-14 for the soft sandy trails we typically ride on. I was thinking 20 PSI or so for dirt/gravel roads??

I am going to be doing the southern part of the TNJT in the near future, and am guessing there is going to be a lot of dirt roads.

I never change it. 25. Just me, I think how much tread I have left is more important. :dunno

And Doug, you know I ride that sand too. :D
