7-th of January 14 bikes with sidecars started the trip from Tyumen to Yamburg (the last point in the north with the paved road in our area). In the memory of the first Russian expedition to the north pole 100 years ago. 14-th bikes with sidecars from Tyumen, Surgut, Yekaterinburg, Penza, Tula, Vladimir, S-Petersburg and Moscow. If it is interesting for you, I can continue. I have not been there, but friend of mine took this trip on BMW. There are also have been several Ural bikes.

How utterly fantastic that trip was, those fellows really know how to deal with the cold ! It's an amazing undertaking for sure and I thank you so much for posting it. Please post more! I think it's wonderful that they are doing such a journey and in such cold and snowy weather. They all look happy and dressed for the cold weather, the blue bike with the full fairing and hand warmers looks well set up for the cold.... Looking forward to more pictures and information. Thank you !
When I see & read about these riders from other than the US, I wonder if they get into BS topics about what oil should I use while going on a 1000k ride & back, in 40 below freezing weather. Oh & anyone know of a better tire than my Ural's stock knobbie (if there is such a thing)? I think some of these guys define the would "tough" & maybe crazy ADV.
Kostya (on yellow BMW 1150GS with sidecar) in January - February 2010 took a trip to Elefantentreffen Metzeler died with outside temperature -38 C close to Perm.
Guys from Moscow came to Yekaterinburg on this bike They already passed about 2000 km and another 2000 km is waiting in the way to Yamburg.
The moscow guys called there sidecar "horse carriage" - it has latch lock and wood board hand made interior.
Arrived to Tumen city: Next morning they officially started and reached Uvat: The photos of some bikes:
Food , drink , warmth and good company ... a good life Beautiful pictures . Thank you for sharing . .
The road from Uvat to Nefteugansk: The temperature was "hot" - 5 -12 C and the road conditions accepted the speed 100-110 km/hours w/o any damages. As long as they went to the north the road conditions became worse, the trees lower, the nature pure and light day shorter.
It's not mine pictures actually - but I am sharing because of the people in these pictures (they like it and they are proud of it) Last big trip I escaped to stay and visit another bikers along my way, but this year I will try to do just opposite, because nothing will change the kind people relations.
The road from Nefteugansk to Noyabrsk Little rest at gas station. You can see the strong side wind and ice on the road: The road sign: Be careful! Ice! That is all for today, sorry, family is waiting.
