Best aftermarket winshield for Super Tenere?

Hi All,

I'm looking for an aftermarket winshield for the super tenere. If searched and found that the OEM Yamaha tall winshield is no good.

So far I've found three other manufacturers: Parabellum, CalSci, and Windstrom.

Any thoughts on these or others?

Madstad has an adjustable one. Never seen it in the flesh though.

I have the Calsci large windshield. It works well over the S10 stock windshield. It is has a lot less wind noise and buffeting than stock.

givi is also doing adjustable ones up and down but not angle like madstad.

I'm 5'11 with 32" inseam and my helmet is a Hornet DS. I've tried the stock screen+Touratech adjustable bracket, large CalSci screen and medium Parabellum.

Stock screen with the TT bracket in the highest position was pretty good, but for winter let a bit too much cool air flow back to me and there was some minor helmet buffeting.

The Parabellum screen had great protection and created a wonderful pocket of calm air behind the screen. The workmanship is also top notch, it's a beautiful screen! However, I returned the screen to Parabellum after just 100mi because the screen is so wide at the bottom that the hand guards make contact with the screen when the bars are about 3/8" from full lock. I have a tight garage and need to turn the bars to full lock. Plus, was worried that in a tip over the hand guards could hit the screen and something might break.

CalSci screen is 85% as good as the Parabellum in terms of air flow management. It flows a bit more air back to the rider because its narrower and so there is a tiny bit more buffeting perhaps, but if I hadn't ridden with Parabellum previously, I would have no complaints. And obviously because the CalSci has the cut outs at the bottom there is no interference with the hand guards at full lock.

I'm very happy with the CalSci, but if you want the best wind protection and can live with the interference with the hand guards then Parabellum is the way to go.

I can confirm that CalSi windscreen doesn't provide the best confort during long trips. It's to narrow at the bottom and for me, beeing 193cm tall, the airflow behind it was less than perfect with buffeting at helmet level. This my experience after riding behind it for about 1/2 of the total 20000 km riden on my S10. For me the lack of a suitable winndscreen is the only problem of the otherwise perfect S10 :)

Yeah, that Touratech piece looks interesting; I forgot to mention that I knew about it. I've heard good things about the Parabellum windshield. I'm think I'm down to the Touratech or the Parabellum. However, I ride with my handlebars far forward, so the width of the Parabellum might be an issue.

Can I just cut the Parabellum to make room for the handlebars?

I hear a lot of riders, on another forum, are very happy with the MRA vario touring screen. It may be something to consider if you don't mind the "spoiler on top of the screen" look.

I do, so I went with the medium Calsci because I like the looks and I want to be looking over the screen when I ride. It just came in the mail today actually but I haven't had the chance to try it out yet. (still at work)

Nothing against the MRA screen though! Hell, I may end up with one!

I'm looking for the best windshield for the Tenere too. So far, I've only tried the CalSci. I got the biggest one and have used it for a couple 1000 miles(tonnes of snow here now). FAR better than the stock screen. I'm trying to decide how much to cut off the top (I ordered it big so I could make that decision based on use). I actually like it way up there. Very little wind but I have to look around it on nasty dirt areas so it's gotta be lowered. You can cut it yourself or the company will cut it for free(+shipping,of course). So far I like it fine but I have read good things about the Parabellum. My goal is to cut wind noise as guns & motorcycles hammered my ears over the years(use ear plugs too but only recently learned the right way to put them in---makes a BIG difference)..

I'm 6'3" Tall. Stock screen sucked.
Parabellum XTall made things very quiet, but as someone here said, it interferes with full turn of the bars. PB has offered to cut it down, but honestly, I am still looking for peace and quiet without being behind a sheet of plywood.
Just put a Givi tall on, and will test later today or tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I will try the Givi with the MadStad (sp) brackets to see if that helps.
Before you buy a Parabellum, let me know.

I'm in the same situation. My main helmet is a XR1100, I'm 6'1. When I'm riding with a good posture I experience a lot of buffering and noise with the stock screen. When I slouch, a lot of that noise/buffering goes away, but that posture obviously kills my back and neck on long stretches.

I'm in Europe, so Calsci/Parabellum are out of question. The Givi D447ST looks promising, but the reviews are rare. My other option is the TT Bracket. This gives me some extra garanties of success, but I've seen some crached bikes that had broken fairing frames, which apears to be at least partialy caused by the extra rigidity of screen brackets

Well, not much improvement with the Givi; definitely better than stock, but nowhere near the Parabellum. I'm thinking I'll send the PB back to them and have them trim the sides a bit so the bars will turn full lock.
Still may try the MadStad brackets and the Givi, but today felt a good bit of buffeting around my shoulders, which means the side of the shield is too small, as well as the height. If I scrunched down a few inches, it got quieter, but that's none too comfortable.
It's irritating as hell when a 14.5k bike has way more buffeting than a 4k KLR! You'd think some genius in YamaLand could figure this shit out.
Welcome any suggestions. This could get expensive.
BTW, helment is a Nolan N102. I suspect this may play some part, but I've tried another full-face, non flip face helment as well, and the results were similar.

Not enough. Bought mine in January; still hits the hand guards before full lock. They have offered to cut it down for me.

I just purchased the Parabellum Xtra Tall (26 inches, which is +9 from the original screen), should be here by the end of the week. I called them up and they said the new ones come with the sides already cut to allow for a full handlebar turn, but this is no big deal becasue I just would have cut it out otherwise. I'm heading down to Florida for spring break so hopefully this will make for a nice ride on the slab.
