I definitely know what you mean. Btw I got a lot of inspiration from your build. LL front end has been rolling around in my addled brain for some time.

Plan is to finish the rig first and get some saddle time then look into some front end options.

Jack, I've got a year on my second Guzzi rig with no steering changes other than extra external springs. I find that it is not much more effort to steer, but do notice at the end of the day there is a little more shoulder fatigue.

I am planning a 14 hour ride this Thursday not counting non moving time. Will let you know how that works out.

I'm following too, RFG! Great work. I've been thinking of leading link options for my own rig for awhile. Questions for you, Cleatus:

How did you determine what the axle height would be when you were mocking up your leading links? Did you just figure out where the axle should be relative to the floor and the rear axle and then select shocks and springs that would give you that height once the bike was loaded? I see you didn't put any adjustment in the shock placement. Is the height just adjustable by sliding the tubes in the triple trees? Did you figure out ride height with the bike and sidecar loaded or unloaded? Did you figure it so it was level with the sidecar- all three axles level?

MotoJ, when I built with stock forks I did not drill lower sidecar shock mount until I had weighted bike seat with 160 pounds and 100 on car. I then used an adjustable temporary bracket to find where I liked car frame height before drilling swingarm for lower shock. I did much the same when I built the Links later. I did not drill and weld upper mount until finding out where weighted shocks would compress too.

Dirt floor engineering. Damn glad it worked out, but I did read most build threads in this forum before starting.

Box is pretty much complete and mounted on the frame. Looks like it will do the job. Still working on supports so the lid can do double duty as a table.

Plan on mounting a second battery, compressor and air tank under a false floor. Might have room to store the winch as well.


















And finally one of the table supports which will slide into a piece of tubing on the side.





Hopefully have it finished in the next couple of day's.

Okay so I have been a slacker lately. But do have a couple of good excuses.

Any how finally have my table finished and am quite happy with it. Works a charm. So a few photos are in order.











Buck and I have been riding a bit as I get used to my new hip. Still hanging local but we're pushing 500 miles. I have had to do a number
of little tweaks here and there but so far so good.

This week I need to get working on the seat and rear rack maybe even some graphics.

Can't wait for the first camping trip as the weather should start cooling off in another month.

We start with a simple plan and along the way we see how well we are doing, then we decide to add a little something extra, but we do get to a point we get to use what we have built and realize we want give it a little more use before we add anything else. Piles of scrap and saved parts are wonderful things to some of us that like to tinker, others for whatever do not have the talent and have to depend on others to use their money to make their ideas come to life. Thank God that he made both, for living in this world is better for it.

Thanks all for the kind words I'm over a year into this project but extremely happy with the results thus far. I can tell this may never get totally finished as I will always find little things to do.

Right now the main items are the seat, rear rack, second battery and maybe some graphics. Then ride and camp.

Okay so I have really been a slacker lately and y'all thought you were done with me. Well not so fast.

Some time back; well maybe quite awhile back so sue me! I did promise some video.
Well now we have a short video and just need to figure out how to embed it here.

I'm actually in the process as we speak so hopefully it won't take quite as long since I last posted.

Did the tech school give you enough instruction to do all the welding or did you work on other things before this to get practice?
