I did it on a 690 so having ridden a 950 the week before it can be done with an experienced rider....however you will need 30 PSI, Excel rims and Woody's Super Lacing system, Popeye arms and lots of time because there is LOTS of large rocks. It is slow going....or have a 250 with soft suspension.

The nice this is there are many places to exit the RT and bail if you run out of time which we had to do. It is a whole day thing no doubt. Stay The Trail have detailed Topo maps with all the bail points.

Sweet video! I know wide angle lenses don't accurately show incline/decline, was the last portion really steep or was it really rocky?

We only rode from Cotopaxi towards Medano Pass and we did not complete that whole section. I have heard that from Cotopaxi and NW toward Salida is also difficult singletrack. The stuff toward Medano turns into ATV track around I believe Alvarado and it was churned up a bit in sections. The issue is the larger rocks ripped out by ATVs not so much steepness, could be due to it being end of season too.

Stephenson that rode with us could speak to the trail NW to Salida.

Ramz - That sounds like a bigger capacity bike in the vid. Heck you live in Salida... You must know some cool trails out there.

I saw this one in my future LOL!

I miss that sweet 690 motor for sure no doubt the best big thumper motor - me thinks. I got the red pig going. The connectors between the two ignition coil leads was shorting out so I got that sorted, did the annual valve adjustment and serviced the carb while I was in there.

Thanks again for the hookup Mac. Next year your coming with! I want to put a bit more planning into the route, ride a select section of the RT and figure out a nice route on the West side between Hooper to Hayden Pass to do as little slab as possible. I also need to get those Clearwaters off your 300 and onto my bike by then!
