Awesome guys. Glad this was bumped so I was able to read what was a wonderful trip.

That's it? No fork emulators? Hopped up rear shock? Larger links? Toothier sprockets?

That's all I had when I did the WABDR back in July.
AFTER we got back my skidplate was cracked,my rear shock is toast,my clutch is almost gone and I have a " few" scratches and dents !!.

I'm about half way through and have to say the historical content is great. I really appreciate the work that is being put into your posts. I'm tickled to see the Honda NC700X is doing so well. I'd like to say to Boomer that I can see a Dual clutch Transmission in his future some day. I have a 2014 NC700XD with the DCT and I love it.

I just stumbled into this awesome report. It seems all of the superlatives have been used in response to your efforts in this RR, but to repeat...outstanding, outrageous, fantastic riding, writing, research, photography, and presentation. After reading it on a cold wet winter day, I'm now a few hours closer to Spring. Thanks.

I've been enjoying your thread for the past few months now; it popped in and out of this thread over the course of last year's second half, likely due to life's other responsibilities getting in the way. I also love to plan trips and execute them with friends, in fact we've got one scheduled for '15 again, as we have for the past four.
I took my 950 S in '11, and found it to be a hand-full, loaded down with gear & gobi's traversing Cinnamon Pass. The next year I opted for my XR650L and never looked back. What had been a dicey climb with a 500 plus pound machine became an enjoyable ride with the smaller Honda. I admire folks like yourself and the Oso characters for what you manage to overcome, but speaking strictly for myself now; I just don't derive as much enjoyment from flogging that extra weight anymore, or is it the extra weight flogging me?
Some day I hope to figure out how to add pix to parley. In the meantime I'll keep browsing the Ride Reports section here and enjoy your commendable efforts & ability.
It is a hoot following a thread like this, especially one that traverses a lot of the same trails we've traveled. Thanx again,

My apologies, I'm not trying to steal this thread, I'm just pointing something out to folks who have questions about the NC700XD's rideability in nasty conditions.

Another great report Bryan! 4 or 5 of us are riding our big bikes out of KY this August and we're using Pitkin as a base. Your rr has been (and will be) a great resource in planning.

Think I missed what month you did your ride???

Backwoods and I were out there about the same time. Might have passed y'all at some point. The second week of our stay was the week of the Rocky Mountain ADV Riders Rally. We cooked the steaks for the Rally and had a great time.
