I stripped 2 on mine but had 2 larger screws in the tool box that were the same length but just a tad larger in diameter. They have held up perfectly so far.
does anyone in this thread know What front windbreaker Adam and the boys are running on these bikes? and where can i buy? Also what saddle bags does he have? in the videos you can see they have 500 printed on them in the KTM font and are all KTM colors so i assume a KTM part but i cant find them. Thanks Dustin
Ok so first Adam had a video somewhere or on his Instagram of when he was molding the front windbreaker and the bags look like wolf man bags Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep... Adam designed and manufactured the wind screen. .. I tried to convince him to make some more.... he said he was too busy..... the bag is a copy of the giant loop coyote bag. ..again locally made
Thanks guys! i found his posts on Instagram, wish he would make more, or sell the molds, seems like a waste to go through all of the work again to shave a foam block. And the coyote bags look nice but i have to say the design of adams looks nicer, just how it opens at the top, from what i can see the coyote does not? maybe im wrong.
Guys, I have tried with no luck to find a thread for a 2009 450exc. I had both my headlight and taillight go out on a rainy dualsport ride. I have tried to join "ktm talk", but for some reason I am not approved. If you could point me in the correct direction for a forum somewhere or if any of you know how to fix my bike I am definitely open to suggestions. Right now I need to find a way to bypass the bike needing to run to light both the headlight and taillight (I have children that are asleep when I have the time to work on this bike). My local ktm dealer doesn't know a way around it either. Thanks for any help and advice!
That bike uses AC to power the headlight, which is the reason the bike needs to be running. To change how that operates you will need to either "float the ground" or puchase a stator from the likes of TrailTech.
Thanks Empedrado! Well, looks like waking the kids might be a better solution! Any online download-able pdf manuals? Any tricks to get the moderators to approve me at ktmtalk?
Regarding KTMTalk ... what's the reason for not being approved, is it because of your email address? Had that problem but just followed the intruction to mail the moderator & he manually approved it. It was a quick detour of a couple hours & a few extra mails then easy peasy to be registered.
It may be the type of e mail account you have. It used to be that they would not accept "free" accounts. Service manuals are copyrighted. Careful...
You guys guessed correctly about the free email address. I answered all the questions, but no response from ktmtalk. Maybe I should keep trying. It has been at least a week btw since I answered his last question. About service manuals...thanks for the tip! I don't need a virus! Looks like I am going to order a ktm one. I didn't even want to ask about how much it was! For Honda, you can get the manuals cheaper from the company that prints the manuals. Is that the case with ktm manuals too? If so, where?
You only say "manuals" ... recon you mean the "not freely distributed" repair manual as the owners manual are freely downloadable from here http://www.ktm.com/globalassets/pro.../dok_bike_bed_8475i4_om_en__sen__aepi__v1.pdf Asking for or providing copyrighted manuals can get you banned ... over at KTMTalk they are merciless regarding things like this.
Yes, I need a service manual. Well, I don't want any of that trouble!...which is why I asked where to buy a legit copy cheaper than the local KTM dealer. I am waiting on a price for one as my dealer doesn't know how to find the price...interesting!
KTMTalk doesn't allow automatic sign up with free email accounts (gmail, hotmail etc)... But it's a simple process to get "approved". Just takes a few hours and some human intervention. Follow the instructions. I use Tradebits. To my knowledge they are copyright legal.
Ktmtalk...all is good, now I just need to get past the "new" status. You can help by commenting on my first post (I think that helps anyway). My user name is the same (hardkdx). Tradebits... I will look at them. My dealer still can't find a price and or how to order them. Does anyone know if ktm REALLY upgraded their dealer website recently?
The ktm 530exc-r thread here ought to help. Same bike, same (albeit slightly smaller displacement) separated sump motor. Hodakaguy probably has detailed repair instructions for whatever ails your bike
Just run a new wire from the positive side of your battery, might want to install a fuse just to be safe, unhook the yellow wire going into your on/off switch, this is your power coming from the stator, hook the new wire up in its place, and this will give you power, might want to hook the battery charger up also so you don't run the battery down, this is basically what you have to do if you convert to full dc power, I can take a pic of the wiring diagram for your bike and email it to you if you'd like. Or unplug your start button, the yellow/red wire coming in is always hot and jump power from there, this is what I did when I was testing my bike to figure out how to power the lights when I converted mine over, mine is a 09 xcw but looking at the wiring diagram I see no reason why it wouldn't work for your exc
i'm not sure if UPGRADE is the correct term, but it is new as of monday. and a bit of a bitch to maneuver around. i'm sure your dealer will get it figured out. and the manual disc is 26 bucks.
