I could put these up for sale if anyone is interested.......... The pods were mounted on my 640, but I did not want them, and the kit was purchased for the 640 by the PO, but mine does not have dual lights any more. Hope this doesn't get me in trouble for posting this, but since we are on the subject.....shoot me a pm if interested. Cheers
Not sure about the 690s, but the 640s had H1 capsules (at least the last half of their century). I have not heard about a LED "bulb" that would fit any halogen fixture. LEDs have electronics with them (different animal). Also, just like HID capsules they have a different light "shape", so the halogen projector (reflective surfaces in the lamp that are designed to make a low or high light beam from the bulb) will not work well with other light types, at least according to the DOT. There are LED fixtures http://www.hamsar.com/content/en/products_browse.aspx?ProductType=Lighting#!forward-lighting/cifo PART # 71075 PART # 71079
ohhh thats a high price, i think the best option would be just install HID and then install a cheap auxillary LED light. but the ones u posted meat popsicle are really great i just dont think it would be cost effective for me
Just don't expect too much in the way of performance. They only draw 13-14 watts each. That is less than the Baja Designs DoubleStryk bicycle light. These will probably compare to a standard H4 but won't be anything like an HID replacement or LED auxillary like the BD Squadron.
I know this is a dead thread. But why can't a guy run two of the h1 Cyclops bulbs in the adventure? I ran one on the enduro and it made night riding enjoyable. I'm leaning towards 2 h1's and one wired for low and then both wired to kick on for high.
Hopefully this thread can come back to life. I have a 2004 625 SXC. Running one of the Cyclops LED bulbs in it for the past year. Forget the exact output but I think 2800-3000 lumens, certainly makes a world of difference. I currently looking to upgrade this with maybe a baja designs squadron but not finding much info out there about getting DC current .
I'm in the process of fitting an Mesh Monster H1 led lamp in my 640 Adv, it has an output of 2,500 lumens. Here's more info on the lamp http://stores.advmonster.com/h1-mesh-monster-led-headlight/
Hopefully you can show a few pics of the fitment ? Forgive my ignorance, but is that the low beam or high beam lamp?
The bike has separate H1 lamps low and high beam, i'm just replacing the low beam. The led lamp only draws 20w so I'll have extra power for running electric clothing. It's currently too cold in the garage to finish the install. But, it requires cutting an opening in the headlight removable rear plastic cap to feed the led's mesh (for cooling the lamp) thru and mounting the small led lamp driver box. I want to thank Docwyte for recommending this led lamp
The low beam can on the 2002 (at least) doesn't fit the electronics from the cyclops LED body without hitting when turning the bike at lower speeds. I have pics somewhere. Another note on the cyclops, of which I'm running one on the high beam, you do have to cut/drill/hammer out the cap on the rear of the light to allow the LED to fit. Good lighting though, I almost feel like installing a dimmer so I don't get anyone too angry at me
Did you wire the cyclopes for the low beam to come on? How does it preform in the high beam housing? Im thinking about trying to switch high beam for the low beam housing if that makes any sense. My main concern is how the light will preform when switched with the different lenses that are on each light. It seems like i could put the mesh monster bulb in the low beam housing and use this for the high beam. Then i could get the cyclops headlight and use that for an addition high beam and for the low beam. My main concern is how the different lenses will effect the light. Anybody have any experience?
Again forgive my ignorance. Do you use the same Monster Mesh bulb in the high beam as well as the low beam? So in other words, I buy two and install both, one in each light on my 640 Adventure?
Yes, you could buy two Monster Mesh lamps but, it looks like they were going to buy Cyclops for the high beam for it's slightly higher output (2,500 vs 2,800 lumens).
A Squadron will work without any modification. I used a dimmer and wired it to my oem switch for low and high beam. I've been running one on my '04 SXC for 40k+ miles = 3 years+ Only issue I've had was when it started flickering, come to find out it was my broken positive battery post.
Would doing this make your low beam far to bright? not that i care but my local leo MIGHT. would the low beam have a low and a high output even tho it is a single stage bulb?
