You & yours are invited to meander the Makairo Track.
(meander - to move aimlessly and idly without fixed direction)

    Sunday 24th January 2016

Meet at Charlie's Bakery 84 Main St Pahiatua 10.00 am.
West Coasters leave Raumati 8.30 am.

Bring your most suitable Airhead or any other inappropriate, overweight or underpowered two wheeler,
ham sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer.

The purpose of this ride is to observe & document the little known & rarely heard Makairo Murmuration.
(murmuration - the utterance of low continuous sounds or complaining noises).

Warning ---- There have been recent reports of an outbreak of Makiro Miasma so caution is advised.
(miasma - a contagious power that has an independent life its own)

    Makairo Track (yesterday)

Some of us at the western end. Not a mirror to be seen.

A lot of the track is only one airhead wide

A slow vehicle pull over lane.

A welcome place out of the heat after excavating airhead traps

And finally a big thanks to the kind souls with the race bikes in tow who pulled over and gave me some petrol to get the last 5km home.

Oh bugger. I forgot about this ride. I had a rare day off too, and spent most of it sloshing around in the kids paddling pool.

Would have been a warm one for you guys.

Yeh nah, I can see 2 mirrors on the lead bike.

Good of yous guys to part form the track for us...

Any particularly boggy bits / fallen trees / other challenges apart from overgrowth? Looking forward to this Sunday. On my roady tyres...

Always seems to be still & therefore hot in there.

I brought the van down and tasted some of your fine amber liquid last time...That must have been about three years ago now?
To make it this year, I would have to leave at about 0400, do-able....Makes for a long day.

Mark, you are thinking about the RRRR. Bart is scheduling that for March?? This is just the Makairo Track, which was the beginning of the last RRRR. It's been closed a while.

Went for a run and had to get off the road to wait for a car to cross a narrow bridge. Rolled my ankle on the uneven surface. Limped home. Thought it was a sprain but an x-ray said otherwise. I now have a lovely white cast and a pair of shiny crutches. Didn’t really hurt that much.

    It’s a bastard getting old.

Swimming for me is more like slow drowning, and I have an alergy to lycra (or the reflection in the mirror of me wearing it), so running is about all that's left to turn my barrel belly back into a keg. I doubt I'd ever get it down to a six pack.

Sick of this enforced holiday already. How do you do it Marty?

Sorry to hear about your injury Bart, hope the recovery isn't too long or painful!
