Frederico, on my '14 Road King with the HD fork Leg wind deflectors, cruising at 85 to 95 MPH is very comfortable and wind free.I do it a lot.
Thanx guys, i purchased the deflectors to my HD dealer 5 minutes ago as soon i have read your last messages. Unfortunally they are not available in their warehouse, i have to wait a few days or most probably next week. I would like to install them immediatly because on the next saturday i will go to Austria (Innsbruck) for the weekend and the going trip is about 270 miles all highway and it could be the perfect test situation. The return trip will be slower and more "panoramic", we will pass through Resia lake, Stelvio pass and Gavia pass. @Deans BMW 95 mph is a great improvement! My cruise speed is 75MPH with other bikes or with the car... do you ride with stock 20" windshield installed?
Yes I ride with the stock Windshield that came with the bike. I cut it down about an inch or so as I like to look just over it. The wind stream just barely skims the top of my helmet. I am 6' tall.
I bought a Klock Werks Billboard Flare, my fourth windshield, in April, and my only complaint is with myself for not buying it earlier. This thing, to me, has about the same protection as the Rushmore batwing. Buffeting has virtually disappeared. I will only use my deflectors again when winter comes around. I'm 6'1" and ride mostly with a 3/4 Shoei. YMMV.
Are you on the stock OEM seat Dean? Anyone here had a go on the '17 m8 and can comment on the new suspension? Paul
Paul, I happen to have a stock Electra Glide Classic seat, when I got the bike home from the dealership, swapped the seat out, seems to provide a little more support for my much abused back.
Good decision, Frederico. I agree with Dean. I should have put those fork wind deflectors on when I bought the bike. They made an amazing difference. I am also 6'2". No turbulence at any speed now. They do increase the heat from the engine on a hot day, because the heat is not being carried away by the turbulent air that used to come up around the tank. But they are so good I was not tempted to remove them even on the hottest day. I also installed two HD backrests, infinitely adjustable for me, and one for my girl friend.
My configuration is the same to yours, @hyena . My deflectors are arrived in my dealers warehouse today, i will go to take them in a few hours!
Good looking bike Frederico! Put those fork fangs on and add the Kuryakn between the fork deflector and you'll be good to go! I've got very little buffeting since I've installed them.
Ordered my National Cycle # 5541 from Revzilla for $81 shipped and tax paid. Delivered in one day. Ten minute job with a flat blade screwdriver and 7/16" and 1/2" wrenches. Threw on my summer perforated gloves and took an hour and half highway cruise. Initial impression is that they work as advertised. Thanks for the good advice, Gentlemen.
I'll be putting mine back on pretty quick here. Looking forward to having the heated grips with cooler weather right around the corner.
Can one of you guys with the hand guards post up a pic from the front with them. These cool mornings have me thinking about doing something for my cold hands!
I'm thinking of selling my 2013RGU and going back to a RK. I went to my dealer and a 2017 is about $20,000 with color option and ABS. + tax. He said he charges what the ad book shows. I didn't like his trade in price but I am still kicking tires.
I'm also interested in a '17 RK. Dealer had a white color on the floor but no price posted and I didn't ask. (Should be around $19K) I don't need ABS. Got a bit low balled on my potential trade, a '14 FXDL with $2.5K in touring upgrades. I get to demo the RK and a RG at the AZ state rally in a few weeks. Is there an audio system available for the RK, without speakers, just a headset outlet?

Darn, time for tires on the '14 RK......Bike now at 15,700 miles, original front, 2nd rear Mich Commander . What is the latest and greatest suggestion, Michelin or Dunlap???
The rear Mich only lasts 8000 miles? Dang, and I just installed one about 3000 miles ago. Been running Dunlap Am Elites, and get 16,000 to 20,000 miles from the rear, twice that from front. But, they cup during the second half of life. Starting to see car tires on touring Harleys, lots of strong opinions on them.
Boat puller, I tend to ride my RK a little.....er.....harder than most. I still ride it like my Beemers.... Will try the Touring Elites next.
