Thanks Bake, I used to deal with Supreme Plating here in Edmonton but it appears they have gone belly up. The only other game in town is Fairmont Plating. Thats where I took the tank panels for this bike. I returned one of them because I wasn't happy with the quality of the job and they did a great job the second time around. I'd rate the quality of the work and the customer service better than Supreme used to be. I think the plating business is dying due to environmental concerns.
I noticed you did the same as me, and replaced all the phillips head screws with allen head ones. With so many pieces to the engine covers, I figured I would strip something if I didn't.
Stumbled onto this thread while looking at other old two strokes. You really put the effort into making this bike look great/stock. Keep up the good work.
I finally got a new fuel tap installed and the lines connected. I filled the trans with 1.2 l of Belray gearsaver. I put 5 l of 20-1 premix in the tank so there's lot of oil until the oil pump is bled. Two kicks and away she went. Checked the timing and it was spot on but I think I'm going to need to richen the idle mixture screws as the idle sounds little flat/lean. It is one of the best feelings to have something run, that you have been slaving over for a long time. It looks and sounds great. We just wrapped up our annual "Triples in Tweed" meet at Ian's ( H2 Dude )place, this past weekend. It was great to see so many triples gathered in one place. Even better when we rolled through a small town, and the locals would step out side to see what the racket was all about. It would be really cool if you could make it one year. I know it's a long, long, way for you for you to go , but I think you'd really enjoy it. Great bunch of guys. Pictures on the Canadian Triples site soon.
Hi, I'm working on a '67' a7, frame #A7-000795, how do the tubes come out of the upper stanchion? Also I need a key # 530 any idea where to find one?
Try this guy on ebay for the key. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kawasaki-Ke...Parts_Accessories&hash=item2a32d46a1a&vxp=mtr The fork tubes should just slide out of the upper triple clamp after the lower triple clamp bolts are loose and the fork cap bolts are removed. They could be seized into the fork ears by rust. Penatrating oil is your best bet to get them free.
Very nice looking restore! I've got a 67' A1-SS, although you may not like what I did with mine, haha. I've done an electric conversion with it! I've got a question for you real quick, how much fork oil is needed in the forks? I've been looking everywhere for the capacity and I can't find it anywhere...
The manual says 200 cc of 30 wt fork oil. I can send you a PDFs copy of the manual if you want If you still have the SS exhaust system I'd be interested in buying it
Thanks for the info! I'll try to see next week if I can get some 30wt fork oil for it. Unfortunately I no longer have the SS exhaust, I had the old engine stuff at my parents place and my dad took it all to scrap... Which is too bad because a lot of the old parts weren't in too terrible of shape. If you would be willing to send that PDF to me that would be awesome!
Great write up, but wish I could see the pics. I guess you have a Photobucket account like I do. Lost all links of bike pics in all the forums I am on. I just purchased a 1968 Kawasaki Avenger A7SS, but won't pick it up for a couple of weeks until I clean out the garage for the space needed.
