Winter riding in Wasilla alaska. Fat tires give nice flotation on packed snomachine trails. Yay fatcats! Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Winter riding in the talkeetna mountains near Wasilla alaska. Shown are some mods to the cat to include front rack and raised headlight with tw200 shroud...Enlarged kickstand pad and engine mud guard. Front break tends to freeze up after stream crossing so I really need to break out the WD 40. So nice to have sunshine after such a cloudy winter. Sent from my Moto G (4) using Tapatalk
Does anyone know the going price for a pair of OEM side covers? I bought a right-side recently for $25. Seller thought letting the molded end for the tank hang outside the box would be okay. It was not. Now I have one with 2-3 inches of the tank end missing. I will not use the repro covers due to the lack of tank attachment. It can be fabbed, but not easily. Doink!
I just picked up an '86 runner and a basket case '87. The '86 was a bad amateur rebuild with a rattle can frame repaint (I wish WalMart would price black and green rattle cans 5x other colors!) I've drilled out 6 broken bolts and started repainting the plastics. I don't think I'll make the frame white again. 99% of the bike is there and I'm diligently putting it back together correctly. I'd post pics, but I'm lazy and uploading to websites takes too long. The basket case contains a lot of crap, and most parts are rider quality or less. I'll probably only get money for the seat, tank, air box and swingarm. I also have a spare motor, frame and triple tree/forks. It came with 3 sets of OEM side covers which is nice. One is nearly NOS, another has faded decals, and the other has no decals.
Hello all! First post here. I got my first TR200 last month and have been restoring her. She's 99% complete and running and just needed a bit of love. I am just waiting for the new Fly Handlebars and I should be able to fully re-assemble and fire her back up.
Had a question on the chain adjusting. Per manual, it says to adjust 1"-1-3/8" slack on the bottom part of chain between sprockets on a stand. I did this and as soon as I put the wheels on the ground, the chain now seems too tight. Should I readjust while it's on the kickstand?
The aftermarket plastics is what came on it when I bought it. You can see on the first set of pics, that is the day I brought it home. Plastics seem to fit fine. Front fender was a bit warped but gonna heat that up and get it straight. No biggie. I also bought a tail light to complete the bike.
If you buy plastic from DC Plastics, they made their molds from a perfect set I had on one of my early model Fat Cats. It's too bad they can't make the front tank clip, but then again, who does injection molding anymore?
The clip on the originals was a plastic piece molded to the inside of the tanks covers, the aftermarket doesn't have this but as you can see it's not a big deal. Your bike is looking great, makes me want to refresh mine, maybe this winter.
I have 2 fat cats with the same issue: idle fail. I adjust to get it right, then run it awhile and it stalls. Adjust it a bit high, it still stalls. What gives? Is this an air/fuel issue?
First rebuild that carb. If it still stalls out, verify your intake is free of air leaks. I use carb or brake cleaner to spray that area. rpm will change if there is a leak.
Sounds like a plugged orffice. Remove the idle metering screw and inspect it, does it still have the little rubber o-ring. Use compressed air or carb cleaner to clean out the fuel/air passage ways. Pull the jets while your at it and clean out the rest of the carb and jets.
