Yup. All true. I stopped in Foleyet during my Iron Butt. I pulled up in front of the town 'hall' and across the road from the bar. Within minutes, everybody was out on the front steps or peeking from behind drapes at 'the stranger in town' I made a beeliner out of there. I didn't see any Swamp Donkeys or anything on my last trip through. Same thing happened in Chapleau on a long weekend. My gf and stopped their for the night and got a room at the Riverside Inn. We walked up to the convenience store to get some food. The KFC/Pizza Hut in the gas station were closed for the long weekend lol!. Anyway, the streets were deserted. No moving cars to be seen anywhere. My gf commented it was really creepy. Just then she noticed ppl peering at us from behind drawn drapes and stuff. We felt like we were the nightly entertainment. Oh hey, forgot to mention, my CRF250L is for sale. Look for it in Sudbury/Kijiji. Will cut a deal for an inmate.
Yeah - it's hard not to feel like you are sticking out in those small places. It does feel like everyone knows everyone in those small towns too. When I was in Wawa a couple of weeks ago - I unfortunately discovered once we arrived that the LCBO closes at 6 PM on a Friday. No ethanol-fueled inebriated debauchery that night. Why are you selling the CRF250L? The longer I have the WR250R - the more l like it. The more I see the value, utility, fun, and flexibility of owning a small-displacement dual-sport. It's just so easy to own. Gives back tons - and asks for so little (including cost of fuel, maintenance, and insurance) in return. Mike
Oh ya. Agreed. The main reason is its mostly used as a commuter; I've reached my threshold for dealing with self-absorbed, distracted, aggressive drivers here in Sudbury. I refuse to ride a bike in town anymore. Self preservation dictates my 2.5 ton Tacoma is my preferred riding gear in town. Montreal, NY, Chicago and Salt Lake City have nothing on the assholes in Sudbury.
I used to ride 3 or 4 nights a week in the City..... hit the Tims for coffee or just cruze. Don't go at all now: too many stupid cage drivers! Further to Gear Driven Cam's comment about the WR and small bikes. I too prefer to ride my WR vs the BMW GS.
Same thing with my FJR with the forward facing LED's, and a red police strobe that lights up behind. Nevermind that the roads suck in this town so bad that riding anything OTHER than a trail/adv bike is friggin stupid. Just yesterday I left work and watched the woman in front of me blow the stop sign at the end of the road, and cross all lanes of Elm Street, at rush hour. Horns blaring, tires screaming, cars going every direction. The woman, was totally oblivious to the chaos she caused. I've said for years that they've dropped an asshole bomb in Sudbury.
Saying the roads suck here is a bit of an understatement. With all the money going into the Maley extension I don't suppose they will get any better either. Sean

Yes, along with the "loud pipe, as it saves lives" according to the Street Cruzer Crowd. There's a fun factor with the WR. Not saying I don't enjoy the GS, I just prefer riding it on the open road. Photos from earlier today! Some WR fun!
Looking for advice: If a pipeline crosses private property are you allowed riding on the easement or would that be up to the owner of the land that the easement runs through? Sent from my SM-G920W8 using Tapatalk
You answered your own question. The pipeline is on private property. Pipeline pays rental rate to the land owner to allow it to cross the property and employees to access to service etc, but it is still private, and enjoys all the privilege of private property.

I'm a fan of the Keweenaw Peninsula in the U.P. The coast roads are great, especially 26 out of Copper Harbor, and Brockway Mountain Drive, or any of the back-country roads.
