Can you put the lift on the back on your bike? I'm full from the beer and Taff has the BBQ grill on his...and the Princess is having to carry the credit card.

Tim, almost enjoying your planning and prep as much as I expect to enjoy your ride report. HBD2U. Have a great, safe, and fun trip! Anxious to hear how the 700s do. Don't forget to come home.

Happy Birdie Day, Tim. Very cool present from the other three circus acts. I have to agree, that Africa Twin is going to be THEE bike that really shines on this trip.
Of course, the other three are Beemers, and...white ones at that :rofl

    Happy Birthday Tim. :p3rry

Haha, if I could stay on the road the rest of
my life that would be great!

    Taff says thanks!

Thanks! Taff's AT might be THEE bike and with the way we ride it'll never break a sweat :lol3

But don't count the 700's out....they would weigh as much as the AT.....if we each were carrying a passenger :-)

Just now checking...because a lot of us are interested in bike weights....according to the official BMW website, the 700 GS weighs 461 lbs, with all fluids and a full tank of fuel. According to the official Honda website, the Africa Twin 1000 weighs 511 lbs, with all fluids and a full tank of fuel.

The difference being exactly 50 lbs.

And of that extra 50 lbs, the Africa Twin hold 0.77 gallons of fuel more than the F700GS. :-)

Interesting weight comparison from the manufacturer's.
I think they are more accurate than the old days with the "dry" weights.

It will be interesting to see what mpg and range each of the bikes will get. On my recent road trip, with my F700 loaded like a pig, I averaged 58.5 mpg (range of 245 miles), but I try to keep it under 75 mph on freeways, and prefer slower highways. That included going over the rockies, and fighting some nasty winds. However, I'm only 140 lbs and pretty easy on the throttle.
