Day 2 and Kate is rather impressed that her bike (she calls Betty..)is ready to take to school this morning
Me likes!! My first motorbike was an XL200R Paris Dakar. The model sold in Italy was equipped with an electric starter only, and they used to fail as well
Final drive main roller bearing. Only bike that has ever left me stranded. I carry a spare now and know how to change it.
Must have stopped by the Jiffy Lube. They are good at removing old oil filters and not putting on new ones Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
A connector failed that connects to my fuel rail today. Fun stuff no fire but a bit slippery at 45mph.
Really? This is a very typical part to fail on these bikes. There are many threads and comments about it on the forums. It had 108,000 km on it when the bearing failed. Which is quite good. I have heard of folks having their final drive go as early as 40,000
After a tumble on the track: BMW handlebar starter switch developed a contact issue that left me stranded on a 37ºC day:
Not a bike, the lid got broke and needed something to cover it soooo I had an extra lid. I thought it was funny but someone didn't, she went to get one.
Battery positive wire connector snapped off on me last Sunday afternoon 4pm during a IBA ride. Was making good time to, a little over 1200miles, 16 hours into a 2000mile ride. That put a 6 hour damper on my ride. Luckily a bmw moa fellow helped me out, picked me up and let me used his shop to get her going again. Back on the road by 10pm
Well we thought the charging problems were fixed but no. Stator and rectifier bit the dust. Thank you Cycle Parts in Eugene Oregon for their help with my problem, great place. So it was a 12hr and 400 mile Uhaul drive home stopping at every rest stop to make sure everything was nice and tight. It was fine but man I-5 was bumpy. New parts on the way hopefully good for another 70,000 miles.
