I've done Racetech & Ricor valves and then Cogents. The Cogent DDCs came out on top in performance plus unlike Racetech the forks do not need to be taken fully apart and drilled. DDCs are an easy drop in install.

Rick would be open to working on the shock too. He is receptive to new projects.

O.k., pre booking and having a deposit down doesn't guarantee I'll get my Himalayan. I mean a lot can go south and wipe the fun money outtta the piggy bank between now and April.
Spoke with Rick at Cogent today. Sending him my forks and shock the day after I get my Himalayan home. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Also emailed Dobeck Performance.

Changed to a 128 main from the 132 jet yesterday. Was definitely too rich with the 132. Feels better now.
Also shortened my Acerbis front fender a smidge and drilled some air holes in the rear section so it doesn't act like a sail on the highway.

I picked up a bar attachment that is supposed to mount with the front screen and creates a loop up over the instruments. Unfortunately, as I should have known....... I will have to modify it to fit. It fouls everywhere despite the Indian manufacturer assuring me that they fit perfectly........Also looks like it was bent by eye over a tree branch by a drunk person.
I'm going to mount my GPS to it rally style so its central behind the screen where it is in the direct line of vision and somewhat protected in a crash.

Digging that mini pump. Looks handier than any of mine. Hose is certainly longer. Who makes it ?

The pump is made by Lezyne. I think its called a micro drive or something like that. There is a high pressure and a high volume type. High volume is what we need for the motorcycle tyres/tubes.
It's really well made and has a little foot that folds out and makes it a mini floor pump.

Thanks man. Yah the fold out foot steady caught my eye. Been buying and trying different tire pumps for years and always end up pulling the "English" pump back off the shelf. Hose is short but it works well. Looking at Lezyne's Micro Floor XL right now.

hello from Spain!!, congratulation to the owners for this beautiful bike. How is your experience or opinion, for using it in a mounth on/off trip? Now this bike can be bought in spain and I woudl like to try it. I am a bit concerne about the fiability of it.

People following the this thread might like to know that a member on fb of the Australian Himalayan Owners group just rode from the eastern most point to the western most point of Australia. 7000+km, 2500km offroad it took 15 days in 40+ degree heat (Celsius). A minor technical issue in the last 40km.
This journey was through some of the remotest parts of the country.
Before you ask about the issue, I will let you know when he wakes up and answers ;-)

Interesting. More power would certainly help with sales outside of the India. I'm not sure a vintage style parallel twin is really the answer though. The Himalayan isnt a retro bike like the rest of their range. Personally I think it would be pretty stupid not to work on a larger bore single with slightly more aggressive tuning.

I doubt it. Himalayans not retro. It does appeal to folks who just aren't into the whole over complicated over priced only a dealer can fix it thing.

Neither is a scrambler.. they are neo-retro and seems to jive with hipsters

The new Royal Enfield Interceptor already competes with the triumphs and Kawasaki W etc.

Putting the 650 motor into the REH would also increase the weight to a rediculous level. Power to weight ratio increase Would likely be quite small due to this.

I'd just like 5 more HP and a 6th gear.

There is also price tag increase..

IMHO Himalayan is good as is at promised $4.5k price. I would consider one personally to ride one way to TdF and sell to buy a ticket home. Wouldn't need more power or 6 gear for most part of the trip, and since it is "quit your job" type of Adventure, loosing a few days from staying off freeway in US would not be an issue.

Shaped up a seat pad that evens out the transition of the front and rear seats. Helps to move forward and back comfortably.
Also sorted out the windscreen bar and GPS mount as well as a new bash guard.










Checked compression today too. I'm getting 163PSI on a warm engine. Keen to hear what compression others are getting after run in.
