Pretty much anything that's attached to a set of crashbars at the front...the B+B front is (at least WAS, for years) attached to the front cyl-head via a piggyback-bracket.
I HAVE seen cracks in jug+head (DL650 with B+B plate) due to a serious hit.
I rather write off a set of bent crashbars into the bargain than being stranded with a cracked jug out in the sticks.
After all, bashplates + crashbars are "collaterals", there to be sacrificed in favour of more serious stuff.

Same goes for their radiator guards etc...fantastic quality and WAYYYY too strong for the sub-structure they're attached to.

Its a vstrom 1000A , by the way, now coming up to two years ownership in a few months, not a lot to report new tyres, chain & sprockets, brake pads, crash bars, larger top box, all DIY without fuss.
It handles its duties well and keeps surprising me with its ability to keep handling tasks I doubted it could do..

creeping up on 100,000km on my 2011 WeeStrom, should happen this month, did valve clearance check at 96k, still no need to change any of the shims (bought a full set of shims when I got the bike and still dont need them) only beef I have with it is it's appetite for chain/sprocket sets and the necessity to put relays mod to headlights to compensate for the appallingly low quality original headlight loom and connector.

I must have got a good one. I have just had to repair the headlight switch on mine. 2007 and 139,500 kms and had to do the fix before daylight saving ended. I'm getting 30,000 kms out of my chain and sprockets(with minimal maintenance) , but that is 99% on-road.

Many bikes don't turn the lights on until the motor starts, the Stroms turn the lights off every time you hit the start button.

That is a big load on a small button, yep not a good system.

mine has done about 40% dirt roads and tracks, a few thousand k's of corrugated and potholed backroads is not gentle on chain sets, mostly SA mallee country and central to western NSW

Thanks but its not a serious idea just yet but if it becomes one i'll get back to you about measurments.
Ive got a feeling the centre engine mount is different but it might just be a case of swapping the engine mounts out.

No it would be a slightly modified dl650 with a 1000 motor fitted.
