Yes not really in the spirit of the 24hr, remember the draw nights years ago even then I used to wonder. Probably a good thing all the experts are together. Beetle plenty behind you to help if you get stuck, will have pies at the control again this thanks to Vilis. John
Thanks, any idea what type of plastic it is? Probably have to order by ph and courier it up to BV. Bit far to drive. http://www.dotmar.com.au/index.php They have loads of types here They put the experts together at the front so they don't get held up by slower/non expert teams. At least that's the theory behind it. By lap 2 and 3 the order tends to get a bit mixed up usually when people start having trouble.
Another couple of hours in the shed over the last few nights. Got chair swingarm repaired and fitted with new bearings, along with new axle made and securely fitted. Have sent the chair wheel down to GCs to be trued up as best as can be along with getting new bearings fitted and the crack in rim welded up. Have cleaned and regressed all the bike swing arm and linkages and got all them sitting ready to Bolt in today. Think all the air filter are now all cleaned ready to oiled up and put aside. Need to find some time for quick trip to gawler motorcycle centre to get new brake disks and pads along with the new front tyre aswell. The new mousse tubes have arrived thanks to John at mefo Australia so should have them all fitted up today aswell
More progress happened over last few days. My lovely chair wheel is a bin job, the boys at GCs tried there best at getting the wheel straighter but it just cracked more, so hunt is on for another wheel. New clutch, brake disks and pads, and air filters have all arrived. Started redesigning the headlights again, bit worried about how cold it might get and wether we get some rain which will then drag the fog in. My lights are just woful in those conditions so will see what I can come up with
Naughty - mousse tubes - I note they (the scrutineers) are not concerned about them. I gess the day will come when any tyre will pass. Moving with the times I suppose.
The hard bit is proving who has them and who doesn't. I still run a tube and air can still be inflated into it!! Mine just never run flat! Tyres is easy as it says DOT or not for highway use on them.
Next year I recon I'll try them when doing the full 24 on a solo. That is unless my passenger this year really enjoys it and wants to do it again.
Well it's all go with stuff arriving just in time for me to go away for the weekend and play with rally cars. New light housing from AAA engineering, and IPF inserts from ARB 4x4 have arrived, hopefully I can get them glued in this afternoon so they can set over the weekend Seeings it's a 4 week wait for new chair wheel, Scott Wait was kind enough to give me his new one and wait for my replacement to arrive. Also thanks to Jock (he doesn't quite know this yet) for letting me have his new chair tyre till mine turns up Had a nice big package of gloves and socks turn up as well so they will all come in handy especially if its cold in a fortnights time
So err. Who do we need to kill to get a proper coffee machine at one or 2 controls? I hate to sound like a Lilly livered underpants wearing hipster but it would make my night
Sorry fella not running a control this year as I am riding and we do not have enough spare people to run one, other wise we could maybe have helped with your request . I believe there will be a commercial coffee wagon at possibly the fuel dump
Who has time for coffee?, about half way through lap 2 I'm usually behind on my minute with no spare time at the controls and if I did have a coffee then I'd need a leak in the middle of the competitive section.
You won't need coffee this year, it wont be cold, and you will be too busy changing air filters with the current weather Conditions
But Jock, your riding someone else's bike and they always go faster than your own so you won't have time to feel cold!!
