Not this year but in past years yes. Some steep sections with loose rocks and boulders as well as a few sections where vertigo could be an issue to some. The road should be mostly clear of snow by now but the mine site will more than likely have lots of snow due to the way it is tucked into a sheltered draw.

Ski patrol/parasailing Rob could probably give you some good info on the Estella Mine road.

Is that the mtn road you can see from Wasa side. Freaks me out just thinking about it!

Yes. But unless something weird has happened to the road in the last two years, you can take just about any normal clearance vehicle right to the mine site at the top.

However, like Switzerland, there are no guard rails...

End of the road at the old Estella Mine/camp site. A lot has changed since we came up here with Dad hunting mule deer and bighorn sheep about 55 years ago. Almost nothing left anymore, and the talk a few years ago of reopening the mine seems to have disappeared.

BTW, I used to work as a blaster underground. I highly recommend you stay the hell out of any mine workings, no matter how safe you think it might be to go in "just a little bit".

You don’t need to convince me! But it is never bad to say.

The road pictures don’t look as bad as I thought. Still... quite a drop. Lol

    KOOTENAY!

Sorry, I just got back from a ride through the Canadian rockies and fell in love with the Kootenays, esp Kootenay National Park which we only just slid straight through... It's now an exclamation of pure joy: Kootenay!

I can hardly wait to return. My RR is in "Epic Rides", title includes "badass chicks", if you're interested. And so but for now, vicariously enjoying this long thread. Rock on!

    Good day folks.
I'm wondering if anyone has a gpx file of the Fauquier power line trail they'd like to share. I did some exploring there early this spring, but ran into snow everywhere. Would like to give it a go in a couple weeks, when out visiting my sister in nakusp

Let me know if you'd like some riding company for that. I live on the east side of the route and have been meaninng to have a closer look.

I'm literally at the east end of the route between hwy 6 and Fauquier.
