My comment was just tongue in cheek, as you two already seemed to have ridden almost everywhere (a lot of places). Nothing will stop you two! I think if one could ride their bike to the moon you two would do it! Just kidding! Lol

Again, thanks for sharing your wonderful adventure and giving such joy and vicarious adventure to all of your readers! Tell Sandra she looks like an amazing cook. You have a warm bed and garage in San Diego if you were to ever need it! Good luck getting new tires!

Oh, one question though. Have you tried the GUGAtech filter to filter all of your gas thru as you pour it in? I ask because I know how sometimes your gas may be delivered to your tank by a guy who carries/stores it in buckets. Meaning it has a higher likely hood for various forms of contamination. it is supposed to filter dirt, debris, and water. Walter Colebatch (from ADV and Sibirsky Extreme) appears to use it for the reasons mentioned above.

Thanks for the offer, but the US are not on the Agenda in the near future, but you never know.
I haven´t tried those filters although I know of them. Might consider them in the future.

The next morning the sky was blue and after maneuvering around the lakes that filled the parking lot, we hit the road early. During a small break by the side or the road I noticed my rear tire and didn´t like what I saw. It had been very low already but now it was gone and looked very strange. I definitely needed a new one. No matter what kind. Reaching Caleta Olivia we checked into a hotel and saw that there was a motorbike shop just around the corner. We walked over and he had a Pirelli MT90 Scorpion A/T in the right size and to a good price. Not exactly a tire I would normally buy but at least not something from China. Win.

not a tire you want to do many more miles on. The worst tire I ever had on a bike of mine. Riding was good, but this is what it looked like after 6000 km.

Yeah we tend to do that (to save Money), but this one all of a sudden wore really bad. Not my Kind of tire.

Going further north Sandra had found a couple of hundreds of kilometers of gravel to avoid the boring Ruta 3 and there was even a penguin colony we could visit on the way. So the next two days we were back on dirt and enjoyed the loneliness of the road we were on. Three cars in two days is not what I call busy. Now we are in Trelew for a couple of days waiting for new tires we ordered online and relaxing a little. The down side is – it is hot here. All of a sudden the temperatures went from cool to 38°C. What a change. I am not too happy about that.

Great report, I've been following it since we discussed the e-starter free wheeling issue on the german LC4-Forum! (if you remember...)

In my opinion the Scorpion A/T MT 090 is the perfect tire for LC4s as long as you don't do a lot of mud or wet grass. I think I've done some 75.000kms with it on mine. Typically lasting about 15.000kms, great value for money!

Hey Martin, I remember our discusion well. Good to have you along. You might have seen that I just fixed the e-starter Problem a couöle of days ago. It is nice to just get on the bike and push the button.
I do hope the tire will last Long. The last one was done after 6000 km. We do try to ride a lot of dirt and I could feel the difference to a more aggresive tire in 4 Pretty sandy river beds we had to cross some days ago. The rear was Spinning a lot more than usual. I´ll manage and hope it doesn´t get too wet soon. There was Nothing else I could get.

Thomas and Sandra...I just stumbled across this....I am so glad your tip has continued to be the adventure of a lifetime !! We met in July 2017, had a great evening chat, and a wonderful breakfast together at the Liard Hotsprings Lodge.... I wrote down your web/blog address and promptly melted it in the a rain storm a day later on my way back to Nova Scotia... I was the big tall nut, on an old blue V-Strom, with a stuffed Tiger... lol

Any of the other Inmates here that have the opportunity to meet this amazing couple, take the opportunity!! You will never meet nicer folks !

Hey Craig, I certainly remember you and the blue VStrom and the rain in liard hot springs. Those were the worst days of our whole Alaska trip. After we set up the tents it started to rain and it rained the whole next day (so we tried to sit it out - that´s when you pulled in) and the day after that we tore down the tents in the still ongoing rain. The next night in Teslin we got a cabin to dry out everything. One of the few nights we didn´t camp. It was so nice you came in and chated with us for a while to help time go by.

Sandra was Looking at our tracks yesterday and put this together - our ride from Alaska to Ushuaia. Around 51000 km. That is quite a distance.

Finally caught you two. Great RR so far. Really liking the pictures and commentary. I had stopped reading RR for a few years. When I got back into it, I found @EvergreenE , which led me to @rtwpaul , which led me to @Normlas, then @XR Valdeez which finally led me to you two. What a great time reading all of them! Safe travels. Looking forward to the trip north and beyond.

Yeah I met all of them and rode some miles with most. Good People. Glad you like the report. There is more to come although I don´t know where we are going yet. Kind of in a vacuum where no decision can be made. Strange Situation. Hang on and you will see.

Was good fast gravel (up to 5th gear close to 60 mph) with an occasional Deep gravel section an ditch to Keep it interesting. Was good to ride with you too. Good times. Enjoyed it a lot. Keep watching!
