If you are still there on Saturday there is a large street market downtown in the mornings. I believe it was on Defensa Street at Moreno.

Glad to see you two are still having fun! Thomas, you still had TONS of miles left on those sprockets! If you could only get that many miles out of a set of tires!

Keep up the good work and I'm still following along.... from my couch! :lol3

We did some more exploring in BA. First stop was the “Floralis Generica”, a huge sculpter of a flower made of steel and aluminum with an electrical mechanism that lets it open every morning and close again in the evening.

Second was the graveyard in la Recoleta. It is huge and many well-known persons found their last resting place here. It is very touristy with tour groups and walking tours all over the place.

After a month in Buenos Aires it was time to leave for the 31st country on this journey, Uruguay. The first stop was the town of Fray Bentos. It was here that in 1863 a factory was founded that should later feed the world with meat, corned and frozen and later even put pies in tins. It was a huge factory where in its heights 1500 – 2000 pieces of cattle were slaughtered and processed daily. The products were exported all over the world and the brand was named after the town. What is left of the complex is pretty much in ruins, but it is interesting to walk around a bit and see the pictures that are on display and read about the work that was done there.

a lot of old photos are on Display and Infos About the work in the factory

I love old machinery, (but I´m an engineer)

going on we tried a dirt road that looked Pretty dry and sandy. It wasn´t. Underneath it was muddy and slippery like hell. We didn´t get far and had to push the bikes back as the rear Wheel would only spin.

Interesting looking at the old photo, lots of bare feet, not something you see anymore at work... It's even more interesting for me as my home was originally built as an abattoir to kill and process meat from Cattle, Pigs and Sheep. A long time since it was in operation, so not much of that history left in the building. NZ has quite a few abandoned meat works buildings. Hygene standards have moved on and made the old buildings and processes obsolete.

yes the Workers in the photos are all bare footed (hope they washed thier feet before entering the factory). The guys wearing shoes were the bosses I would guess.

Landscape and riding have been a little on the boring side leaving Argentina and all the way through Uruguay so no photos of that. We didn´t take any. A lot of farming in Uruguay. That´s the only change, but still flat. We stopped in an old and touristy town for the night, Colonia, and then pushed on to Montevideo where we met up with some old friends – Takeshi and his wife Coco and Mandy and Jon. We hadn´t seen all of them in a while and it was good to catch up. Sadly Mandy and Jon are going back home and we will not be seeing them any time soon, but that is travelling.
