@helitemoto , just got a new bike (well, new-to-me). Any suggestions on where to attach the tether on a 2009 BMW R1200RT? Have had the vest since May, wear it every day!
Hi Knee Look under the seat for a hard point on one of the frames and then feed your lanyard through between where the tank meets the seat. If you can't find out, look for a hard point on the side of the bike where the clip on the vest is. If you have any other questions, hit me up directly - zak@helitemoto.com
How much simple green? Soaking/saturated? Just a light coating? This is something I need to try, thanks
You can just dilute it in some water and then use it with a scrub brush. Or you can spray it on with a spray bottle, scrub it, and then take a wet towel and wipe clean. You can hang it to dry.
@helitemoto I received my Helite Turtle Vest (HI VIZ) this past Friday, but unfortunately, I ordered it from RevZilla, before I knew you had a 10% discount through the site here. No worries. But, my question is this. I got it from RevZilla in a big "RevZilla" box. Inside the box, was the Helite Vest, in a clear plastic bag. No paperwork came with it, no instructions, no warranty card, nothing but the vest. The cartridge was inserted, lanyard was attached. I am not bashing RevZilla at all. I order a lot of stuff from them, they are awesome to deal with. Just wanted to go to the source, and make sure I am not missing anything important. I ordered an XL (regular length) to wear over my XL Klim Badlands Pro jacket. I attached the lanyard to the right side fame rail, under my rider's seat. I had to make some adjustments with the chest straps to get it to fit correctly, and not ride up into my helmet, but now, I'm glad I have it. I realize it is not the "do all end all save your life kit", but I'd rather have it on and not need it, than not have it on and NEED it. I'm a daily commuter in Florida... I'd rather sweat a lot, than bleed a little. Thanks in advance for your input. ~ Darren
Send a pic of how it fits on you on and off the bike I'm exploring getting one, the fit has always held me back from Pulling the trigger.
Same here, some jackets I wear a large, others an extra large. I'd prefer to pull the trigger on one of these after I tried it on, had it fitted properly so it's works as it should if and when the potential becomes a reality.
Maybe this will help on sizing - I started with an XL-L. I'm 6'3", 220#. I wear an XL in Klim, 46T-48T in Aerostich, 56 in Rukka. The XL-L was too big for me, so I went to the L-L which fits perfectly, with lots of room for growth or layering. I sold the XL-L to a friend who wears 3XL in Klim and 52 in Aerostich and it fits him well. There is a lot of margin for adjustment - I'd suggest going smaller if you are on the cusp.
I'm 5'9" 180#'s. I wear a large Fly mesh, but an xl in the ranger jacket that's a little big, but the L was too tight for my tastes. So you'd suggest a medium with the above? Thanks in advance, hoping the company rep here sees this and responds also.
Definitely medium, large will be too big for you, since I am wearing a large long. Keep in mind you will remove the back pad from your jacket with the turtle. I can adjust mine to fit with the back pad in the jacket.
10-4 sir, I can leave my back protector or take it out depending on how it fits. Seems one would want to remove it and let the airvest back protector do it's job.
I had my daughter take a few pictures of the vest over my Klim Jacket when I got home this evening. Here are a few. I am 6’3 / 250 and I’m wearing an XL in both jacket and pans, Klim Badlands Pro. Vest is XL (regular length, not long length). In these pictures, the back protector is still in the Klim jacket.
Just ordered a hi-viz from them this morning. Looking forward to wearing it and the protection it offers.
I took the D30 back protector out of my Klim Badlands Pro jacket this morning. Vest does not ride up like it did yesterday. Having the CE armor in the vest suffices. Now the vest does not inch itself up into my helmet.
Any word on the discount code? I just tried to order but when I typed ‘ADV’ in for the code it said it was disabled. Thanks.
With tongue only partly in cheek: your pain is his gain, that's the whole point of Hi Viz. The Hi Viz also makes the bug splats very apparent after a night ride.
Same when I checked a month ago. I think they stopped offering it in the new year. Bummed out but still ordered my Turtle Vest.
