Here's more info on how you can import and from which sources: http://www.motomappers.com/faqs/faqs.php#importWays
It hurts to admit, but you are right. I have been managing expectations poorly and higher (personal and business) priorities cam into play. I won't say 'when' anymore, but let me just say that development is nearly finished, which will be followed by beta and then go-live.
Oh, I’m not upset with you Guido (although I have been antsy to get the new version for a *long* time. We had lots of discussions about feature sets!) I was more referring to the other post - because it hasn’t really been all that clear. :) Some time in the future, are there plans for Apple CarPlay support? There are currently about 11 third-party Mac apps that support CarPlay. It would be great to see Scenic there. We use CarPlay in both our autos, and I am looking at using it on a new GoldWing. It would save me having to install a phone mount and running a cable, I could just plug in my phone in the storage compartment and use the GoldWing screen & controls. Wishlist for Scenic 2.5 :)
Yes. I have plans for Carplay, but won't be in the first version of the big update. Can't / won't [emoji3526] make any promises as to 'when' it will be added, but it's high on the feature list (not the highest though).
I love forum responses. I appreciate that my phrasing may have come off as dismissive (unintentional) but this reply is your personal minefield which I have no interest in navigating much less setting off. Glad you and Guido are on good terms (further down thread).
I'm gonna be using scenic offroad on the NM bdr leaving june 8. I have downloaded the bdr maps. Some of them are "navigate" and some are "offroad". Will I be able to still access the navigate maps when I lose cell coverage? Do I need to go back and save them as offroad? I also have been trying to tether my non-gps ipad to my phone via bluetooth but the ipad doesn't seem to be able to locate without wifi. I had assumed that it would utilize the gps locate of the iphone thru bluetooth.
Scenic works without cell coverage. No matter onroad or offroad routes. As long as you have the offline maps installed for the regions you are traveling through. iPhone hotspots don't share location with connected devices unfortunately. If you want to use a non-cellular iPad for navigation, your only option is a 3rd party Bluetooth receiver like the ones by Bad Elf for example.
Ok, thanks. I'll just use my phone then. I was able to get all the bdr routes to turn red "navigate". Don't know why they didn't download that way the first time. As I travel, will the next route just automatically load or do I need to go select the next one in my "favorites"?
You'll need to select the next one in favorites. Also make sure to check the routes for strange loops before you leave. http://www.motomappers.com/faqs/faqs.php#strangeLoops
@gve If I switch to an Android phone, will I be able to convert my Scenic account when you have an Android version?
Yes. As long as you have a Scenic email and password linked to your account. You'll simply login to the android version and your data and Purchases will be there.
Hi Everyone, Wanted to give you an update on Scenic's big overhaul. I was always torn between giving an estimated release date and the risk of people being unhappy if not making that date. As several earlier mentioned release dates have passed, I won't name a date anymore! What I will tell you is that I'm currently in the final stages of development. After development it's on to beta test. So, it will be in the app store later then the last mentioned June date. Since I started working on this release, more then a year and 200,000 lines of code have passed. Through this message I want to let you know that I'm still 100% invested in this and will not let you down. I can assure you I'm working full time to get it out there asap, but it needs to be right! I think you'll find it's going to be worth the wait! I hope you understand and thank you for your continued support through all this time. It truly is my main motivation for doing this. Cheers, Guido
Hello Guido I am trying to create a route on overflow creek rd in Georgia. It is off of warwoman rd off off hwy 28. I can only make 8 waypoints and then I get an error message. Any ideas?
Could you send me a screenshot of the route with the via points and also the error message you are getting? If you send it to scenic@motomappers.com I'll take a detailed look tomorrow first thing.
I was trying to look for the answer here, but not successfully... I'm quite confused by the "Missing Offline Maps" warning... I know the benefits of having the maps offline, but I don't want to download maps that are not necessary for me. For example, when I pass a different country for 100km, and I don't have any worries about the data consumed. So... Is there really something wrong with not having the maps downloaded when you are online?
When you select a route for navigation in the main screen, a corridor of map data, of about 5km wide along the route (if that data is not already on the device as an offline map) is downloaded. If you stay within that corridor during navigation you should be fine. If you deviate from the route however, and the route needs to be recalculated outside of that corridor, there is no guarantee it will be the most optimal route (if you deviate a lot outside the corridor it might not recalculate at all). The map is in offline mode during navigation so it won't connect for any missing data. Why did I choose this approach? Because of two bugs in the 3rd party mapping framework. (1) Making network calls during navigation caused the app to crash due to excessive memory usage. (2) Sometimes route recalculations would finish before all map data was downloaded, resulting in the route taking main roads / highways only. Furthermore this has some more advantages: it improves battery life (network calls eat battery), it saves data from your data plan (important for many, but of course not for all) and the recalculation is a lot faster with offline maps.
