Thanks for that link. That looks like a simple and effective solution. The Motobags straps are 2". I think I'll have to get a set. I really dislike having things flapping around on the bike. These strap keepers should do the job. Update: Just bought some of the elastic material (1M) and my spouse is going to use some heavy duty nylon thread to make some.
Never really got a answer so I thought I'd ask in here, I have a 2019 Africa twin and have been looking at getting these for years! Not sure if I should get the same size or off set, 38l and a 31l or 2 38s.
Generally folks work with the exhaust configuration to decide on varying sizes by side. Smaller on the side you have exhaust. I ride a G650GS which has two cans, so I went with 38L on each side to be even, and to hit the middle spot for capacity.
I've not collapsed them nor intended to do so when I bought them. Nice feature, but I couldn't collapse my Varios either. I carry 24# of gear full time [ 12 each side ] in them anyway.
I have the 45/38 on my 2016 Africa Twin. Lots of storage. The 45 is pretty large. Depends on how much gear you travel with. I do long tours so the extra space has been handy and hasn’t limited the bike off-road at all. I think 38/31 sizes would be good for more minimalist travel.
For the AT we would recommend the 31+38 liters set. I am in the factory now finishing off the bags for the May delivery. Will not make the 45L next batch, people are happy with them but the general consensus is the 45L is a tad big. Just so I can fix it, did you contact us via email? I ordered the Lone rider bags back at the end of January, and lone rider told me it would take until the first of May to ship them. Well here it is the first week of May and now they are saying the End of May. I am sceptical as every time they seem to push the delivery date back. So if the bag is so good, shouldn't the logistics to ship them be as good of quality as the bag? Really pisses me off, I need to get bags in place pretty quick as I am planning a ride coming up soon.
Mine were pushed back about 3 weeks from original due date, but they are worth the wait. April 18th, 3 weeks ago, he was over there getting everything in place for the next shipment of bags. If they are delayed 3 more weeks, it's not all that far ahead of the original date. Set backs happen when dealing with international companies that have to go through customs first. It may be no fault of their own.
I don't really buy it, I work with other small companies who ship from some restrictive locations and they can get me parts in 2 days from Progue. In the days of Amazon which sets the delivery, these guys could do a lot better. I was considering buying a tent from them, but I'm not now. Go with a company that assures the item will arrive. The worst thing you can do to a customer is screw with the delivery of the product, I bought a drone a while back and they kept pushing off the delivery on it. And now due to poor delivery, they have basically gotten a reputation as being unreliable and gone broke.
Okay, why don't you just cancel the order and move along. Everyone who's received them has been extremely pleased with theirs, even myself who had to wait an extra 3 weeks for delivery. Now, having said that, there's a vendor here who's had my money for just over 4 weeks on a product that was promised two weeks ago. Already 2 weeks late, they are not being delivered until the 5th week or 3 weeks late. They are at the mercy of their supplier oversees like everyone else. No need to get your nickers in a twist about a slight delay of 3 weeks. It happens, to more than one vendor here.
Very true, maybe they will arrive. Will see in a couple of weeks, just had a lot of bad experiences with suppliers lately. I inquired with Lone-Rider regarding the delays and they say it is at the manufacturing level and not in shipping. They do not know what the delays are. Which puzzles me on how they know it will take 2-3 weeks to resolve. Oh, well. Will see what happens at the end of May. If they can't deliver by then, I'm canceling and getting something that is in stock.
Hi Cameron, Andrew here. I was in the factory today again getting the bags finished. We stated that the bags would be delivered in May. But NOT a specific day or week. I have seen your ticket and know when you go on your trip, I will add you to the first shipments. You will get them before your trip. All the parts have been sewen and we are now welding the side panels to the front and back parts. The bags have hundreds of process and parts and if one is not correct it makes delays. Also quality control, I rejected over 60 bags and I will have to destroy them because of unforeseen manufacturing process errors. We should be getting the first bags finished this week, and sending next week. I will make the orders we have and then make the rest of the bags at a later date. Currently, we are 4 days behind schedule. Email coming to all the buyers in the coming days with the status update in the coming days. It's just a few of us working hardcore to get the bags out to customers, we are not Amazon or the likes. Reach out if you want to know anything! Cheers
Knew you'd be along to articulate specifics when you could Andrew. I like the fact you're rejecting bags due to sub standard manufacturing errors whether it takes a few days/weeks longer to deliver or not. A superior product as you provide the riding community being checked before released is well worth any extra time to deliver. I find it a PITA to have to return something not right over a little longer wait to get it right the first time.
I bought the bags and a tent from Lone Rider. Both products had delays in shipping/production but I did receive them without an issue. In fact, when I got the bags after the delay they rush shipped them by air to me so that I could get them for a cross-Canada ride I was doing. They arrived the day before my trip. I'd reach out to them and send an e-mail and see if you can work things out. I've found their customer service excellent and friendly and more than willing to work things out. I'm going to put the adventure tent to the test this summer but already I can attest that the quality of their product is superb. Hang in there or communicate with them and I'm sure you can come to a resolution.

Whelp, after months of reading about them on this forum, I finally pulled the trigger on these back in March. Bought a set of 31L + 38L MotoBags from an inmate here on the Flea Market, and then it took a couple more months to hunt down a set of used GSA luggage racks. Finally got them mounted up yesterday, haven't had a chance to really use them yet: I like how flat they fold against the bike, and day-to-day I'll just expand and use them without the plastic stiffener or inner dry bags for grocery runs etc. Will definitely use the whole kit when doing an actual trip.
