My ride is a 2012 g650gs. I hope you'll make the quick release for that model too. I bought your racks and they are working great.
They are the 38L. Look bigger on the g650gs. I do think the fact that the top is basically open when collapsed is a serious design issue. I will likely have them closed quite a bit as I will commute on my bike this summer. Does anyone have the skills and interest in making a simple, waterproof, elasticized 'shower cap' that could go on the bag when collapsed? It would also contain all the flappy straps that result from collapsing it. It would fold up small, and could live in the bag under the inner drybag liner. LoneRider ~ could you make these and give all us early adapters a screaming deal on them!? Just a thought. Could be a simple, cheap solution to an issue that is likely to get more attention the more of these bags are out in the wild.
Noted. I think I will solve this by just making them removable. The straps can be tucked away, but always looking to improve. Will look into it for ya. Cheers Andrew
We are developing a new tank bag! What are your most important features of a TANK BAG? Let me know here https://forms.gle/zNpH3QGdLrghQxJp9 Google Forms: Let me know here https://forms.gle/zNpH3QGdLrghQxJp9 Cheers, Andrew
Andrew, I would ask you look at designing sturdy clips that hang the backing plates on the racks. So they take all the weight, and then design a locking system for the clips, maybe, I just think the heavy duty clip idea [ 4 on each backing plate about 2" wide ] that could somehow be then locked mechanically somehow and then keyed to release the locking mechanism would be simple enough to back engineer your presnt Responded to the google forms Andrew. If you have a mind to, how about a tail bag to go with the saddle bags, same hypalon [ tank bag maybe same same? ]
I am not sure what you mean by the "heavy duty clip idea [ 4 on each backing plate about 2" wide ]" I can't visualize it 100%. If you think it is simple I would love to know more. From what I have seen, a wedge system looks like the best way to go. I want to make a part that fits the existing BMW rack system but I don't want to cross into the gray area of patients. From what I have seen a wedge system boosts a lot of benefits. Simple and effective. But I'm intrigued to know more about your heavy duty clip. Thanks for the response! Yes, a tail bag came up today when we discussed what products to make next. There are two ways to go here, just a tail bag like the below pic or basically a MotoBag in a smaller square size like the aluminum top box BMW make. Need to research the market a little but I think a top box would complete the set. Will scetch it up and show you what I mean. Cheers A Like this but way better:
Think of the clips like a coat hanger hung on a rod, sorta of. 2 on the upper rack bar, two on the lower rack bar. Not sure I'd suggest how to make them lockable, not an engineer at all. Tail bags, I've been looking for something that fits my tail rack on the GS in a soft bag to replace the Vario hard box. Something along the dimensions of 16Wx16Lx10"H with the same loops as the saddle bags for strapping it down, leave that to the customer. Same roll top closure, no need for a lock, the straps would just be cut if they wanted it bad enough. Made along the lines of the bags, no need to worry about waterproof zippers/cover etc. The bags have plenty of those loops to attach various other "stuff" to them, same would be nice with a top box.
Glad to found this thread, subscribed. Willing to change hard side panniers with semi rigged LR panniers on my BMW R1200GS Rallye. Waiting for quick release system to finalize, as well as next discount day, before ordering.
Hey guys So... we are working on this new tank bag for adventure bikes... I (Andrew) is in charge of the design. As we did for the MotoBags, we want to take a special approach to this new tank bag... We want to listen to everyone and understand… and incorporate that in the design. We are aiming to make one of the best tank bags on the market, great for touring and also off-roading. It must be practical, tested extensively, reality proofed and made specifically for the big adventure bikes. So... What is important for you in a tank bag? What do YOU want in a tank bag? What do YOU like from existing tank bags? What do YOU hate from existing tank bags? We made a form to answer: https://forms.gle/rBpMsLFB3r9FXtjn9 But you can just hit reply here too. And we also have a Facebook thread going on if you want to see the other people's answers and participate publicly: https://www.facebook.com/lonerider.motorcycle/photos/a.558463550858014/2129314217106265/?type=3&theater Thanks a lot for participating in the adventure! Cheers, Andrew

And the waiting has ended... Fits perfect in my pannier I fit perfect in it at 6’1” Plenty of room for gear... I think I’m gonna be impressed...
I've had mine a little while but haven't used it yet. I did put it up in the yard just to be sure I could. Next Monday I'm leaving on a 2 week trip to California, hope to sleep in it several nights.
Hey Lone Rider, I’m a satisfied customer of your ADV tent having used it in real moto camp conditions. I do have a question. On the tent body, there are two zippered slots in the diagonal corners close to the floor line. What are they for? Probably very obvious But not for me
