Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask. I'm on my cell and searching is a bit hard. I'm on a ride and 5,000 miles in, my Mitas E07+ is gone. I normally run the older version and get over 10,000 miles so I didn't think I needed to have a plan for tire replacement. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm in Dawson and will be going to Fairbanks and Anchorage so any shop would be great. Not big on going to the dealer and paying twice the price but will if needed. Thanks so much.

They’re a dealer, but I’ve always had good experiences with the service department at Northern Powersports in Fairbanks. If the above suggestions don’t work out.
Northern Power Sports and Outpost Alaska in Fairbanks both have a decent selection of tires in various sizes.
I called outpost and they wouldn't let me remove my tire so I went to northern. Large selection and a 3 hour call ahead and they got me in at 3:00 on Friday.
Something doesn't make sense here. Did you leave something out? In what way would they not let you remove your tire? I find it hard to believe that you couldn't walk in there with a wheel without tire, buy a tire, & have them mount it.
they did the same thing to me in 2008 in my first Alaska trip. Obviously that was a long time ago, but it still happened... Even after I called days ahead to clear it with them
Doesn’t sound out of the ordinary for me. Outpost has nowhere near the customer service level as Northern. Like many places in Fairbanks they just don’t care. If they don’t get your business they will get someone else’s because there really aren’t many options.
I called the Outpost 3 days before my arrival day in Fairbanks. I gave them my tire size and they had a tire for me. I asked if they could hold the tire and when I got to Fairbanks I would bring in the wheel and have them mount and balance. They agreed. 3 days later I show up first thing in the morning to execute the plan. I was told they had no tire on hold for me. After a while, they looked up the tire and quoted me. I told them I would be back in about 20 with the wheel. The gentleman then asked the bike. I told him and he said that their machine won't mount or balance a wheel of a brand they don't sell, and that tire machines are Knowing that is incorrect, I questioned him and he stuck to that story. I am not saying that they are a bad place, that is my only dealing with them and being 4000 miles from home I felt terrible a shop wasn't willing to help me. Maybe things changed. But @Bigguy136 story rang home. I get picking and choosing your work, but to tell me it was okay when planning ahead, then changing your mind when I get there is way too far. I could have made another plan. That's all I'm saying. We are all human and mistakes happen, so maybe mine was an isolated incident
I talked to them on the phone and picked a tire they had in stock. I then told them I would want to pull the wheel. They told me under no circumstance can I pull the wheel off in their parking lot. I have all of my bolts coated with grease and antisieze. No way I'm letting someone else blow everything apart with an impact wrench, put all the bolts on the floor in the dirt and beat it back together. I'm sure they would do good work but most people don't have grease on all the fasteners.
That's what I suspected it might be & what you left out before. That's really lame on their part & I certainly agree with your decision to blow off doing business with them.
A motorcycle tire in alaska? That will be $465 dollars and we dont have it in stock but we can order it and it will be here in three weeks. Next customer please.
Anyone tape a couple of tires together and fly them up here from the lower 48 as checked luggage via Alaska Airlines?
Seems like a lot of work / hassle. I just drop by or call Alaska Leather. If they don't have it, they'll put the tires on their next order and have them shortly at a very fair price.
Last time I needed a tire I missed 3+ weeks of riding (not any dealers fault, the tire I wanted was backordered at the distributors.) I'd like to have a couple tires on hand since I can change/balance them myself. A couple places ship free to the lower 48...thinking I could fly back with the tires next time I'm down there since a second checked "bag" is usually free for me.
