    Never seen his vids. I’ll post up a slide turn when my bike gets in. If he worked the clutch, throttle and gear selection while braking and swinging the bike and then releasing the clutch as the bike comes around and still on the brake and then slowly release the clutch, give it throttle, and release brake at same time he wouldn’t lose momentum and he’d have a smooth slide turn. There’s no pivot since the front tire never leaves the ground. It’s a slide turn, not slide pivot turn.

    Oh damn, more to unpack ;) But you perfectly describe the technique I'd like to learn.

    Please do post up some technique vids when your bike gets in @oldfuddy . We (certainly I) could use all the wise technique pointers for these bigger, heavier bikes I can get.

    There is a lot going on in even what appears to be a relative straightforward 180. It's something I'd like to dive into the first chance I get. I should film the fiasco ha

    I may have to look at my rear brake, and adjust it. I'm not sure it's modulating that well .. in the gravel it feels like it's on/off. Actually I recall on day 1 that I skidded in a full rear lockup for quite some distance when I tried ducking onto an off ramp at speed. I thought it was just the ABS being in offroad mode, but maybe not. The front brakes are great, but the rears are harsh.

    No sense practising this stuff if the rear is either off or locking up. Maybe I'll take it up and down the road here with my runners on. It's always easier to brake more subtly with shoes on vs mx boots. (at first, with a newer bike). It'll give me a sense of whether it's me, or if it needs adjustment.

    Are you on the balls of your feet or the arches?

    A lot of people coming off road bikes ride too much on the balls of their feet...hard to br subtle with the rear brake that way.

    I'll have to pay attention next time I ride. Riding on the balls of my feet just felt natural when I was on my 300, especially once I got the Clake Pro and didn't need to shift my foot for the rear brake any longer. Riding on my arches always felt less dynamic a position for walking the pegs, and moving the bike under me etc.

    I know for certain I'm on the arches when seated, because I'm aware of tapping my right toe laterally to landmark the brake pedal, while riding with my toe to the right of it until needed. And I know I was seated when I was doing the twisties in the gravel the other day, so I'm going to say I was on my arches. I could very well have some poor technique. I'm self taught, not well taught. lol

    My 500 EXC was off/on before I adjusted things. It had the same behaviour of locking up in dirt or slab as well. Once adjusted things were much more user friendly.

    And once I became aware of it's behaviour, I know I took my time and deliberately tried to slowwwwly engage the rear, but it always locked up. (the 790)

    I've read the reply's to your post and think that maybe some of the simpler things where missed.
    Two simple things that may help.
    1. Make sure you are not gripping to tight, its a common mistake and can lead to painful hands.
    2. Try some foam grips, I believe the Aussies call them Pussy Grips, they help reduce vibrations and the softer grip is more comfortable.

    CG is the weighted average of the two components, you stand up the CG rises, it doesn't matter where the attachement point is

    The advantage has to do with keeping the center of mass within the track so you are more stable,

    You can order it from a KTM dealer. Price can vary from market to market. I paid 4800€ for this pro suspension. But for ~2.5k you can upgrade your s model with r model suspension if pro is overkill.

    Don't positap anything please. Use the proper connectors, or install the proper connectors. Positap are convenient, but a source of electrical gremlins.

    The gauge of the wire you need depends on how much current the hardware at the end of the line is going to pull, without knowing this info we can't answer the question.
