I hope you had better luck dodging the storms than I did. I made my way up to Blowing Rock and found some pretty heavy rain almost immediately after getting on the parkway. None of the showers lasted very long but I remember at least 4 separate rounds.

Still a good day though. A wet day riding is better than being safe and dry at work!!

I saw the same message coming from the south. But I was nearly out of fuel and trying to reach 18 for the mostly down-hill run to a fuel station. I saw the needle on the wrong side of the red bar but she kept running. According to the tank specs, I had a 1/2 gallon left at fill-up...

I hope the tar/gravel is only temporary and new asphalt is coming. That surface that is worthy of the BRP!!!

I passed this mailbox yesterday and after looking all around Home Depot and Lowes I'm puzzled as to where they bought it?

I only made it to Wytheville, about 40 minutes from my house, before I u-turned and started running from rain. I got spit on a couple of times, and some of the roads I rode were sloppy wet and steamy from coming in behind significant rain, but I successfully navigated my way around most of the junk yesterday.

When I finally got back to the Parkway I headed south down to Laurel Springs; we probably passed each other. :)

LOL! Yeah, I did some dual sporting yesterday! That gravel crap on the Parkway is dirty and dusty, and between riding through two different sections of it, and hitting a lot of sloppy wet pavement yesterday, my bike is a mess.

Me, too! Alas, we've finally begun our long-awaited remodel, and the tree peeps showed up today to get the three large pine trees down that are in the way of our new garage. My bike is buried under a ton of crapola down in the bike shop, as we've had to gut several rooms in the house in prep for the makeover and finding places to deadhead all our stuff has been a challenge.

I haven't ridden in about three weeks, and honestly it looks like it'll be a while before I get back in the wind again.

Here's our kitchen as of about mid-day today:

All the cabinets and countertops (circa 1970 or so) are coming out, a new window is going in to the right of the existing one above, and we're converting the kitchen, living room and our office (i.e. bedroom #3) into one large room.

Denise and I are doing as much of the grunt work as we can, to help keep labor costs down. I'll be stripping the kitchen down to the studs.

This was taken about 4 this afternoon:

There are three very large pine trees in the way of where the new garage is going to go, and Josh Barr and his crew showed up today to begin the process of surgically removing them.
