Yamaha # 1 in reliability
KTM doesn’t even make the list in the top ten.

Saw on instagram first KTM 790 to make it to Tuk. His rear shock blew out not not soon after his destination. Had to limp back to Alaska to wait on a new shock. No Thanks!
Not trying to dog KTM they make awesome dirt bikes but they’re travel bikes will leave you stranded. I tell my buddies higher performance equals less reliability if your willing to take the risk.

Everything fine with dirt bikes. If you race on a track it is not a problem. Either by the ragman or you yourself can push it back to the paddock. And as you said, this will not work for travel bikes.

Worst thing I read is a blown engine after 25 km of a new Duke 790. Nothing what could convince me, neither with warm words nor for money.

Ironically, the Yamaha is the faster road bike. I'm sure they could have easily matched the suspension travel of the 790r, as I believe the prototype bike had 250mm of travel, but for some reason decided to drop it down to current specs. Manufacturers just can't get it in their heads that adventure bikes aren't meant to be flatfooted.

This is a general basic truth that seems to elude the majority of motorcycle buyers. Too many want the "Badass" bike" without knowing the ownership price tag that can carry with it. One has to know what they need (or want) and what they are willing to trade for it.

That said, I just finished an 8K loop around the USA with a bunch of dirt and a bunch of pavement traveled in a bunch of states. The KTM 790 ADVR brought me back home with no failures and was a blast to ride on this trip. However I'd be the first to admit that if someone had asked me before I left to take the same trip and chose either the KTM or the Yamaha and told me there would be a $10,000 payday waiting for me for whatever bike I chose if I got back with zero mechanical failures I'd have almost certainly opted to take the Yamaha just based on my past experiences with both brands.

I got the same info from my local dealer here in Ontario $11,999 delivery late spring.
Inexpensive here compared to Europe. I had a chance to demo ride one at the NL stop of the Tenere demo tour. They were asking 11,200 Euro in NL for the T700 but that included their 20% VAT.
I placed deposit on one the other day, can't come soon enough

€9700 in Germany, £8600 ($10,600 USD) in UK. Europe is made up of 44 countries, Netherlands is only one of them with their own pricing, taxes etc.

Heading to France next month...wonder if I could get a tour of the T7 manufacturing facility? Would love to do a "One Piece at a Time" deal

It is possible to visit the factory, this is managed by the Saint Quentin 'office du tourisme'.

Dealer said I had a long wait, I left after that, on my KTM.

I only can find one dealer offering pre-orders . . . $10,499 (based off EU pricing) . . . 2nd half 2020.

Just call them up and ask if they'll take a deposit.
From what I hear, the number of pre-orders are limited for dealers.

With the long wait, I can at least plan and work on the accessories.
I've already lined up auxilary lights, which will require custom mounting.

These lights are great for $16, have them on my KTM.
Two things needed for modern "drivers", extra lights on all the time, and high-viz.

Need to open them up and seal with silicon though - no comment.

Need to source a good rack and pannier cases for the bike as well, I doubt I'm going with OEM panniers and cases,
a bit too wide for me. Need hard cases for security, travel, protection from elements.

The Canadian T7s are going for 11999 CDN. That is just over 9K in US dollars. A great price if achievable here in the US.

The above US dealers are pricing several thousand over that 1500-2000.

Usually new bikes in Canada are pricier than their equivalents here in the US. Hence the cottage industry of Canadian citizens buying and maintaining bikes here in the US.

It just seems implausible that our Canadian friends can buy this bike for that much cheaper than us here in the US.

My initial take is that the few early US dealers might be gouging or taking some advantage. I’m not bitter or anything just skeptical and believe things may change a bit here in the US when all said and done.
We’ll see.

Did I miss some “official” pricing from Yamaha on the T7?
Looking at the US Yamaha T7 page it states the price Is “TBA”
