I'm glad the temps are starting to cool off out there in Borrego but still in the upper 80s... I probably won't get out there until November when the temps get below 80 deg so I can get some desert camping off the Borrego Salton Seaway...
Yep Doug, like @simbaboy said, that's our fuel 'insurance' or in most cases in our remote UT riding, a necessity! While on the White Rim Trail we need about 140 miles of range, or if you're following Imu(@simbaboy)that'll most likely be much much more since his senility may have us riding in freakin' circles completely lost. This past May trekking to Toroweap, AZ., May of '18 on the WRT, this was a crappy set up that eventually failed big time, ended up fitting the Koplin tank in my back pack,
Looks are deceiving Eric. I didn't get in a fall trip on Majesty as planned, usually like to head up along the eastern side of the Sierra, but it didn't happen. Many of the passes got snow whomped a couple weeks ago, so that's out. Lack of time and motivation on my part as usual. One of my more favorite shots from a couple years ago, headed toward Mt. Whitney,
Rudy.............. it's still warm out here! That's heading into town yesterday afternoon, but it didn't feel hot, until I started working in it. Look what I found when I got to the market, a fellow CRF-L owner. Couldn't the find the guy in the store, when I came out he was riding away His 2fiddy looked well worn, used properly, he probably knew all the good routes and didn't want to share.
My first attempt of an action shot with my Iphone, it's just too hard to do this kinda stuff without a lanyard. I need a good point n' shoot camera! Any suggestions? My 10yo Sony has been in retirement for a while now.
Just a little buzzing around the valley yesterday evening once the sun started to set behind the mountains. Note to self, bring a clear shield for the night rides! Could not ride above 25mph with the screen up, that sucked. The Iphone sure makes it look like there was lots of light, not true. This was close to getting pretty dark, Here's the good stuff back at the house, we've got our 4 week old grand daughter 'lil Mila with us, giving our son & dil a break. Also have our other son's fantastic dog, Kingston. All good!
Lots of action sport cameras which take decent pictures and videos, have a remote that is mounted to your handle bars or mirror stocks, etc. Don't need a GoPro for minimalistic use. My $50 from Amazon is almost as good as my GoPro. Almost. Imu
Linky? You said it bro, for as little as I may use it, don't want to spend too much $$. Rudy(@black 8) has posted some fantastic material from his GP7, that is pretty envious!
Doug, The box on the CRF-L is from Harbor Freight, their medium size. I just rip out the inside stuff to create a good size case for what I need. https://www.harborfreight.com/2800-weatherproof-protective-case-medium-63926.html
After a morning full of yard work and a few other inside projects, finally got on the wasp for a nice 45 mile exploration. Out of Borrego to the south east covering the triangle on the map, But first things first, a necessary fill up with CA prices to boot, More to come........ .
I am impressed------with your ability stop exactly 1 Gallon on the pump. Regular 87 Octane is $2.60 today. But its cool and drizzly so nowhere to ride. Imu
You get really good training filling up a Vespa. Fill too much or too fast, your pet carrier contents get a gas bath. Highly effective at quickly training the filler-upper.
Looks like fun Sam, I crossed passed the Coachella valley twice today, once at 29000 feet, once on the 10 freeway. left the house 4:50am, met at my buddy’s house at 5:30, jumped in an Uber to LAX, hopped on a plane to Phoenix 7:40, landed and got in a lyft to the dealership, made the deal on his new truck, then drove the new truck all the way back to LA, where I jumped in my truck and drove back home to OC. Home at 8:30pm
