Guys, I need air filter advice. I’ve put 400 miles on my new R and really should be switching to a better filter already. What does everyone here use?

Guglatech... works perfectly . I´ve been using now for 10,000kms in plenty of dusty conditions. Catches everything and it´s easy to clean

I prefer oiled foam for a bike ridden off road regularly. I have the Uni Filter Australia for the 790 Adv R. Had one one in my 2007 1200GS for 120k miles, and then one in my 2014 GS LC for the last 100k miles.

If going into dusty conditions with a Unifilter filter(Not the Aussie one),then liberally oil the (pre-oiled)element and grease the sealing faces as fine dust WILL get through otherwise

Is there something proven wrong with Ktm 'offroad' filter (63506915000) or why you guys are looking for alternatives?

Apparently, the KTM PP filter has the filter foam encased behind screen on both sides, making it hard to service, where the Uni-Australia filter allows the foam to be removed for easier cleaning. The problem I've found with the Aus-Uni is that when it does get very dirty, it will allow dirt to pass around the edges of the foam elements, and right on into the engine intake valves. This is why I'm waiting for 4 new intake valves for my 790 right now, as they seem to be on backorder. I'm switching to the Guglatech air filter for now, but with the air intake snorkels in the dirtiest area of the bike, and the small filter size, I'm really hoping Triple Clamp Moto comes up with a better solution.

The evidence of dirt infiltration is spread pretty evenly around the filter frame, making me wonder how much dirt makes it right through the middle of these relatively thin foam elements.

What was wrong with the valves? Definitely looks like some oil was coming down the guides on a few.

Similar to @AdvRonski experience with the Oz Uni Filter, the PP Unifilter can allow dust (and fine grit) past the seal and through the element itself.

The Oz Uni filter foam element is easily carried and replaced/cleaned on an off-road trip (daily when necessary in dry conditions).
MUST be super cautious when oiling and installing the filters to get a good seal.

The position of the intake draws-in copious amounts of dust/sand generated by the bike itself.

The intake valves had zero clearance when I checked them, the faces were worn pretty badly. The exhaust valves are fine, and the seats are OK as well.

I haven't had the issue with the Uni Oz filter that AdvRonski had, but I haven't subjected it to that heavy of an off road dusting. It's of course easy to pull and I check it regularly that no dirt is getting in the airbox past the filter that I can visually see. However, you can imagine that if the foam inserts got completely clogged, that the air will find someway pass the foam elements.
