Sandlapper is a great event but be forewarned, the BBQ they serve is a mustard based sauce. One bite had me gagging for 30 mins.:puke2

Generally they find a weekend with a nice sunny forecast and warm temps, then pick the weekend after that.

I found this event, same weekend as the RDV. I was thinking that Helen is not that far from Murphy and they do have some good riding down there. Then I saw the price. :(

It doesn’t say anything about the cost of the cocktail hour drinks being included for the $875… Maybe you have been seriously underselling getting us all spoiled.

I can get 2 days class at the TTC (Trials Training Center) for $150... that's money well spend :deal

I've been too broke to attend a lot of events until a couple of years ago, and that's the reason I keep the RDV "cheap" - I don't want to exclude people because they can't afford it. $100 inclusive beer is a tight budget, that's why I have to count on people helping cook without getting free admission (they deserve all the credit). If there's money left, I use it to replace broken equipment for the field kitchen.

Events like the BDR, are put on by cooperation/entrepreneurs that try to do it for living. They come and go like mushrooms - it's a ruthless business, burns you out and not many make it (insert dead husband joke here ;) ) . I don't want to go back to that ever. I can walk away without loss and say I had a good time - even though I appear cranky at times during the event (tired germans always look/sound cranky :lol3)

Truth - Mrs. Manfu is directly from the motherland - I know that look. And nothing spoken in German ever sounds happy :deal

And here's a look at the Upper Cumberland DS ride we did last weekend. But in all honesty it was a proper dirt bike ride and was exactly what we were hoping for. 88 miles worth of stoke and a very well organized event. Rain the night before made it more better :super
