The facility I work at is shutting down for a few weeks. I can use the break to knock out projects around the house and shop.
I live in a canyon area in Northern California and I can see lots of houses. Tonight the lights are on in most of them, unlike most nights when more than half are dark at dinner time. I guess people are staying in, restaurants can only do take out or delivery and lots are closed. Very spooky.
did you use the last of my tp. If I had a gun I #$*(& . Oh wait I m sorry , I m Canadian go right ahead . There's at least 5 leaves off bushes I can use instead. . There's no gun test for are you dumb to own one . At least here I dont have to be to afread of that. I a Canadian army vet so don't go flying off the handle at me . I once said carrying a load hand gun on a motorcycle was dumb on ADV in a thread. As I you ve got a live round under the hammer . I had 20 people go after me . Funny thing within week the news was talking someone riding to an anti helmet rally hit a deer and got shot by his own hand gun. That was one pissed off deer . Reasonable ownership is all I saying . Today I got my past pay check and road the ski to sky hwy in vancover . Nice little ride and got the shock of my life in Vancouver bc Gas was just 100.5 a L or to translate 3.80 canadain a us gallon . One station is was 94.6 a L . Up in Price george BC It's only 81.5 cents a L This pricing hasn't been seen for 25 years . I know you guys pay far less then that in some places but For once it's cheaper to gas up in bc then in wa . I would not be shocked by seeing it go down another 25 to 50 % due to lack of demand vs supply . I may just go camping some time in the next month. It's not like my scooter can't hold a least 2 weeks of food and stuff.
Thanks. I have been taking Hydroxychloroquine for my RA for years. I read a study tonight that suggests that Hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin will clear the virus in 5 days. I got this from my cousin who has a PhD in Pharmaceutics.
Wow, I saw this, crazy, why on earth wasn't this kind of thing banned in the US? This is going to seed the virus all over the US, in homes with parents, grandparents etc... https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-u...nts-party-on-spring-break-despite-coronavirus This kind of thing was stopped in European countries weeks ago due to the lessons learned about mass gatherings and the infectious environment that creates.
Good luck to those fellow inmates in California and elsewhere that are now on lock down! I feel this is like suspension you got when you were a kid on a massive scale. Its imminent that Washington will be doing the same thing very soon. Maybe its just coincidence but I have seen a few military vehicles out and about and my wife spotted a ton in downtown Bellevue. I think this might be the national guard coming in to help the police out and that the call has already been made but they have not officially announced it yet? Reworked my budget with my reduced hours. Its so tight I don't like it and no money to fix anything. We suspended using the credit cards and have gone cash only for now. Reason why we did that is because we can only afford to pay the minimum payment plus interest until this blows over. Before we used the cards for the cash back and airline mileage but paid off every month. If I get furloughed without pay which is increasingly likely then we are a frigate that just got broadsided by a battleship. Especially if the unemployment office messes around with you. This is truly an awful entity. They tentatively rejected my wife's unemployment and need more information. What more information do you need? They seem to think that if your wife is young and beautiful with big teets she can go prostitute herself before they feel they have to pay up! Luckily we got savings and my wife thinks we will hold up for a year. However after that I can join the folks down in tent city. God help us all if it comes to that!
Did you get a chance to stop at the Starbucks in Squamish for a coffee? I do agree with you regarding the price if gas hoovering at $1/litre. I’m getting my C400GT insured this weekend. We should get together for a ride. I haven’t ridden the sea to sky highway yet. Which area of Vancouver do you live at? I’m in Coquitlam just up the street from Coquitlam Center.
TRIGGER WARNING - POST MAY OFFEND - TRIGGER WARNING: Perhaps it is because for their entire lives, they have been coddled, given participation trophies for showing up, had every need catered to, taught that the gov't can fix everything, and generally been rather selfish - as in social rules that I don't like don't apply to me? Waiting for the OK, Boomer refrain
Friends in Texas are reporting $1.30 a gallon gas prices. I haven't been out since oil prices really tanked but we were at $2.30 last weekend in Breckenridge. Lowest I've seen in a tourist area like ours in decades. I suspect it may be even lower now. Got an email from Scooterwest that they are shut down after an order by the state of California. Not even their mail order department will be able to continue working. They will fill orders in the order received when allowed to return. New Hampshire unions have filed a constitutional challenge to the "order" re number of people who can gather. https://www.unionleader.com/news/he...durzzG-HclavtesRaY3qAGfvUhNOIyrnwCAlyDwPsPKUg From a legal standpoint I believe they are absolutely right that the order is in breech of the US Constitution First Amendment. The plaintiffs have said if the wording is changed to "recommend" or "discourage" they will drop the lawsuit as moot. That's why the federal government has issued "guidelines" not "mandatory" actions. As for the spring breakers, well they can close the public beaches but they can't really mandate they stay home. Personally, I think many of the mandates and forced closures we are seeing are not constitutional. Yes, they maybe able to regulate restaurants and hotels but if as I've been told places in northern California require a note from your employer to leave the house for any reason other than food, medical or other limited list of so called "essential" needs is true that would indeed be very over reaching. As bas as the Illinois mayor who issued a proclamation allowing him to determine sale of gasoline, shut down liquor, gun & ammo sales, turn off water & electricity and "take possession of private property" if the mayor deemed it "necessary" for the "public" good. Even the Illinois legislature, governor and attorney general balked at that much power grab and told the city council/mayor that their proclamation was unconstitutional. Thankfully in Colorado they are encouraging people to do outdoor activities with household members for health and mental safety. Speaking of which I'll be taking the dog out for a walk in a bit while the sun is shining and before the snow is supposed to start again later in the afternoon.
It's not like the National Guard is waiting outside my house with handcuffs. I can go out and no one has asked me anything. I haven't even seen any form of law enforcement. People are staying home because they are afraid, not of the government but of the evil nasty that they see as threatening to kill them instantly. There's a high level of panic behavior. There are still less than 1000 proven cases in the entire State, and no evidence of a massive number of very acutely ill people. There are nearly 40 million people living here, more than all of Canada, so the number is very low. If the hospitals were filling with very sick people we would hear about it.
I feel your pain dealing with UI office in WA State. In 2019 I was laid off and went to get my UI benefits. The office contacted the employer that let me go and was all set to get benefits till they did something dirty. They investigated my previous jobs from years past to see if I left by my own will or refused work. Of course I did we how else did I get my current job that let me go? The morons even asked why why I did not continue to work at temp agencies I worked for? How stupid can you get, people work at temp agencies as stop gap and extra bucks, but they took it as a voluntary leave and treated it as regular job. They left my claim as " open" and never touched it again. Just be prepared to get a lawyer if you ever have to deal with the Unemployment offices in WA state. I did find one place that charges a flat fee of 200 dollars plus a requested donation in Seattle area if you have to fight the UI office in court.
The US is still in the very early stages of the infection curve. It will increase exponentially as has happened in nearly every other country that hasn't enforced a lockdown early on, a good example is the UK. They have around 3000 confirmed tested infections but estimate there are around 60,000 infected that haven't been tested and still in the incubation stage or showing mild early symptoms.
I should be ashamed to get caught up in the hording, but I'm not. Only the essentials - plus it is only a one day supply, two at the most. Not bringing them in the house because I'm not sharing.
This from MarketWatch today: "Worldwide, there are now 247,400 cases of COVID-19 and at least 10,067 people have died. More than 86,000 people have recovered after being sickened by the disease; nearly 70% of those recoveries have been in China." That is nearly 10% mortality rate ( 10,067/(10,067 + 86,000)) for those who seek treatment. An additional 160,000 and in the queue to either recover or die. Yes, there are people walking around who show no symptoms , so the actual mortality rate is lower. But , by definition, the mortality rate is FAR higher than they quote. The raw numbers do not lie. Flu has a mortality rate of about .01%, by comparison. Just about everyone on earth, sooner or later, will get this. Everyone. The point of all of these machinations is to slow this virus down so that we don't all get it at the same time....so that you or I are not waiting in a line for a ventilator that is 10-people deep. Do not hope for a vaccine anytime soon. There is no MERS vaccine, even after trying for 7 years. There is no sars vaccine. There is no vaccine for the common colds caused by coronaviruses. Researchers that have worked on a MERS vaccine are saying that no one should suggest any kind of timeline. The only thing we have to ask ourselves is: is it worth destruction of the world economy to save the millions of lives that will be lost due to a sudden rush of patients? Can we find a way to live in the next 3 months without shutting the world down? I wonder if it were 25 year olds in charge of government, banks, large corporations, etc would we do all of this shutting down? The one thing I do know that a second Depression in 12 years is going to put people under. I was laid off early and barely kept my house through the last one. This is a no-win situation.
I went to the store to pick up gorilla glue and porch paint, should know better than to go to the store hungry. The coconut cookies are half gone and I'm into the chocolate mints. If I don't slow down they won't last the apocalypse. Shared some of the mixed nuts with the dogs anyway.
Working at Lowes, its full steam ahead. No reduction in hours to clean the store like Home Depot. No limits to how many people are in the store at one time. NADA guidelines in these times. Some have called in milking 2 weeks of virus pay but there might be backlash from mgt on that one eventually.
