Aerostich with third party armors - What choices work?

So, I've been thinking of Aerostich for a while.
Big reason being that I am a very short rider. 5'3" with unusual inseam 27" (shorter legs than the other 5'3" 's I've talked to. I swear I haven't measured anyone. ) ,
I somehow fit myself into M size jackets (looks bit tall in length & arms when I wear them),
but pants have been issue forever!
and I've always used armored riding jeans (as I could get it altered)

However, the times I've wet my jeans (from rain) is getting on my nerves slowly.
May be it's time to get a custom fit gear.

I moved to North America to continue my world trip, and understood that all gear is made for really tall people that I usually have to look up at sky to talk to :) ,
not that I could fit perfectly into pants in India either.

Thinking of Aerostich Darien light & AD1 pants & so 3 questions

1. wondering if anyone has been able to get it customized to replace all armors with D3O or Revit seesoft/seeflex armors?
2. Has anyone added chest armor?
3. Does anyone use neck brace with it? What's your feedback on it.

Have you considered calling Aerostich and asking them all the questions you have? Asking for a friend....

What's wrong with the Aerostich armor? It would be hard to find armor with as much coverage.

Doesn't Aerostich offer SAS-Tec armor as an option? I think it's re-branded under the Aerostich name but it's SAS-Tec nonetheless.

You talking about the TF series armor?

Just this past week I got a Falstaff (Darien in wax cotton) & AD1 Light pants. The Falstaff has the armor pockets integrated (although not the back). I was planning on returning the coat, as it fit terribly with the original TF3 shoulder armor, but decided to toss in some KNOX CE armor out of my old Teknic coat to see if it'd improve things. The alternate pads drastically changed how the jacket fit. I then tried some armor out of a Revit jacket, and that fit even better.

So, suffice to say, you can fit in alternate armor to the jackets\gear. If you use one of their jackets that has the padding held in place with Velcro, you'll either have to get new pad pockets (they sell on their site), or open up the stock pockets.

Yeah, that's the SasTec. Pretty universal molecular armor shapes if you use those pockets.

Yup, TF-5 is just SAS-TEC. Following a severely bruised hip (still some swelling 7 months later!) after just a 5 MPH fall while wearing AD-1 pants, I've starting running the TF-5 hip pads in them (the standard TF-3 pads are too humongous for comfort). For years, I've used a SAS-TEC shaped Rev'It Seesoft back pad inside a TF-5 adapter sleeve in my Darien jacket.

Well, tell your 'friend' that asking review from other customers' experience (vs) asking the manufacturer both yield different results many a times.

May not be anything wrong. I just am trying to customize with lighter & more flexible(possibly lighter) armor. :)

And for those that suggest why bother, go check out how much lighter\thinner (and transfer less energy) other armor is than the Stich TF3 stuff. My KNOX armor is at most 1\2 the thickness of the TF3 armor, and is better formed to my shoulder. For reference:

Looking at my right arm (left) in pic, the stock armor doesn't sit on my shoulder (even when sitting on bike), and caused jacket to bunch\sit on me funny.

With KNOX Armor:


The jacket sits on my shoulders as expected and all my other riding jackets do. The AD1 pants have the original TF3 armor in them still

So you are looking for clothing that has the armour built in? Have you considered wearing separate armour and wearing shells on top? Obviously if Aerostitch will do custom building for you you will get a better fit but if you're thinking of wearing separate armour have a look at the Mosko Moto new line of outerwear. https://moskomoto.com/collections/apparel. Not sure how the legs will work for you.

I do know what you mean about a short inseam, mine is only 30" and I too run into overlong legs. For me Klim has mostly fit pretty well.

You can always yank out the armor and just use a compression set or wearable armor as well

All you need the shell for is weather proofing and abrasion resistance.....which is the reason we just don't wear jerseys to start with

BTW, even dedicated ATGATTers like me might forego hip armor if a certain suit or pants didn't come with them as standard. I won't make that mistake again. In my little tumble after losing an argument with a railroad track, my gear showed that my foot, knee, hip, elbow, shoulder, and head hit the pavement, but the only body part that was injured at all was the only one that wasn't padded/armored: my hip. I was wearing my Darien jacket and AD-1 pants, which of course were the only pants I owned at the time that didn't have hip protection. :^)

This is my street riding\commuting. I went for the Stich cause everyone touts how commuter\user friendly the stuff is. Adding a secondary pressure suit, while likely better for armor & protection, isn't gonna fly for me personally. For enduro\race though, that is what I do.

I tour in my Klim Adventure suit with built in armour but for offroad day trips I wear armour under a shell and knee guards. I've been tossing up buying knee braces but can't do the $$ right now.

I'm going to wear my Tech Air 5 vest under my Stich once the vest arrives. But I don't commute, so the extra layer and sweat isn't a problem.

What armour do you need besides that? Elbows?

I do use extra shell Icon armors with a lighter jacket on top, if I'm riding through hot climate. But, now in North America some places even summer has been bit colder than what I'm used to :)

If I don't do the aerostich, the next thing I'm eyeing is indeed the Mosko Moto's Basilisk set with Forcefield armor. I was watching their recent Livestream & maybe (a big Maybe) their pants might fit my inseam. I could be wrong. Wish there was a way to check.

I generally just commute in some form of leather jacket (which varies by season), jeans and steel toes.....but then the highest speed limit on my way to work is 40km/h. So when I am stuck motorcycle only the Darien is exactly what I reach for, because I can wear my work clothes under it, and its super easy to take off in the office, without having to strip and/or use the locker room

That being said you can get whatever armor you want into the pockets, you may have to cut to size but that isn't a huge deal.
