An old school chippie told me years ago that it was deliberate, such that the rattling deck would upset any termites. Makes sense to me.

It's nearly done. The new bridge will flow a lot more water but might still go under very occasionally.
They certainly left it long enough before replacing it. I don't know if anyone has had a decent look at the old bridge but I reckon the quicker you crossed it, the less time spent on the dilapidated old thing. It wouldn't look out of place on the road of bones!

Hopefully it will all calm down and stay a nice ride as is - But I'm happy to give Glady's a double through on the 690 - we could have a nude swim and burger and then rip into some twisties to Sofala - she would love it - anyone got her number ?

Rode the Bridal track 3 week ago, didn't see the big rock that was there a couple of years ago. Only saw a pile of dirt to ride over. Track was narrow in one spot. Lots of people camping on the Turon River banks. At the Hill End end ov the track, the road seems to be getting maintenance for a mining operations access.

The rock has been gone for ages.

The track has been graded from the top of Hawkins Hill to around Mary Flynn campground.

Basically every corner on Hawkins Hill is a horrible sand pit. Most of you will love it.

The Turon is empty. Still a fair bit in the Macquarie. I had a gander at Root Hog and it's still deep for me to contemplate crossing.

I’m planning on doing the bridle track from Bathurst to hill end soon. Anyone done it recently? Hoping it is still safely passable by bike.

If that tiddler of mine got through pretty much anything will but wasn't there a bridge out somewheres closer to Bathurst?
    Going to need local knowledge.

How was the rock actually moved? I thought the talk was no machinery could go up to it because of land slip?

The bridge was replaced ages ago.

The erosion where the rocks fell is getting steadily worse but should still be passable. We didn't even anywhere near as many storms this year as last year.

It still suffers from it's most basic problem thou, imo. It's not terribly interesting and doesn't lead anywhere exciting.

The rock is definitely missing. But see above, there was a bridge washed out nearer Bathurst, status unknown.

That sir is purely a matter of opinion and whilst yours is respected it is not necessarily that of others, I had not been across for nigh on to 45 years and thoroughly enjoyed it.

As the track has been accessible for at least 4 years (last time I rode it), can someone please change the title of this thread to.... Bridle Track info

Did it last week no problems.
The erosion near the bridge is pretty bad. Easy to ride around/over on my Dr650. A GS shouldn't be too much of a drama with a bit of care.
