Thanks for the offer to help out. The hack community here in the PNW seems to be a great group. In other less complicated times it would be great to meet you all. Next year when we come back to ride Alaska. Or come to the Meet-up in Banamichi in November.

Leading links will likely be an add in the near future. I thought it would be good to be able to pull the car and ride the bike by itself but now I don't think that will be happening. It is a bit more work than my old rig or maybe it's that I'm 13 years older now. A great way to build upper body strength.

Nice looking rig. I’m anxious to hear about the pros and cons once you get some miles on it.

We were very happy to meet @szurszewski this morning for a properly socially distanced coffee at our hotel. I didn't get a photo, darn.

Fortunately, no one is here to see a picture of me, and I got this one of you:

I did fail to get one of Lynn though, so shame on me - I liked her colorful top too, so that's a bummer - but, since you're going to take lots of future pictures (right?!) and you can't fit that many changes of clothes on that rig, I'm sure we'll get to see it later.

You might just have questionable standards. ;)

A photo of your co-pilot in her sleeper car would be nice.

Damn that rig looks sweet Tom! And yeah, you do look pretty happy.

There will be no more of this with that setup

I ran into Helge Pedersen in San Miguel de Allende while he was leading his Alaska to Panama segment of his full Americas tour.

I watched the below video, it taught me it isn't as simple as attaching a hack to a bike and riding like normal.

    Check it out Tom!

    Thanks Trice

I watched that a while back. Great stuff.

I did a some dirt roads in the mountains in Colorado near my old house on the hack we had but not like that. A lot of fun though. Shifting weight and working the shoulders came right back.

Sunday, Father's Day. Lynn decided that since Alaska was out that we would not be camping. Josh - @szurszewski offered to ship the camping stuff to a friend of ours in AZ.
We loaded the bike for the first time. Pretty straight forward with the Riggs saddle bags and the compatible dry duffels. The travel guitar was fun to pack and it needs a rework but it was OK.

We checked out of the hotel, dropped off the rental car and finally got on the road at about 11:30. We headed up to Mt. Rainier National Park. It was cloudy so no photos of the mountain shining. We got up pretty high and needed to add a layer.

Lynn was looking like the Pillsbury Dough Boy with all the layers.

There is still a lot of snow up high

We did about 160 miles today. And we ended up in Packwood for the night. The rig handled fine and there is plenty of go in the Tiger triple. Lynn says it was mostly a great ride today. I think it was too. A good start I think. We will refine our packing methods as we go.

Tonight we are eating pizza and planning the next few days rides.

This is off to a good start. Let me know when you plan to be in the PDX area (very loosely defined, I have a couple of motorcycles that actually get outside the city limits... :ricky)

Picked up the goodies from the hotel this morning. I’ll let you know when I get them shipped - probably be a few days, so if Lynn changes her mind, let me know and I can forward them on to meet you ;)
